Coleman will manage Greek club Asteras Tripolis

Coleman, who has managed in seven different countries, has had previous spells with fellow Greeks Larissa and Atromitos.

But the former Dragons chief is determined to hit the ground running after replacing Savvas Pantelidis.

Coleman said: “I’m looking forward to the new challenge. I’ve known Asteras since I was at AEL and Atromitos.

“It’s a very good serious club that is in a situation that doesn’t suit it and needs to change.

“I’ve faced such situations in my career and I’m here to do the same with Asteras.

“This is not the time for much talk, but for a lot of work. What matters is that we win the next game and change direction.

“I hope that the fans of Asteras will enjoy what they will watch in the stadiums.

“I would like to ask them to be by our side, to support us and we will fight hard and do our best for them.”

Coleman famously led Wales – with stars Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey in their ranks – to the semi-finals of Euro 2016.

He has worked in his homeland as well as England, Spain, China, Cyprus and of course Greece.

Coleman managed with Fulham, Coventry and Sunderland.

But he likes a challenge overseas with previous experiences at Real Sociedad in Spain, Hebei China Fortune in China before his short stint in Cyprus at AEL Limassol.

Some other notable names have previously coached at Asteras, such as Carlos Carvalhal and Claude Makelele, who left after just three matches in 2024 despite being undefeated.
