MANCHESTER UNITED are facing a kick in the teeth from Barcelona and Marcus Rashford.
That’s the view of Manchester City‘s former financial advisor Stefan Borson who predicts more transfer market pain for Red Devils co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Rashford, 27, was exiled from Ruben Amorim‘s squad and shipped off to Barca on loan during the summer.
And after a slow start, he has found form in recent weeks, notching five goal contributions in five games since the international break.
Barcelona are reportedly keen to sign Rashford permanently – but for less than the £26million buy option they agreed with United.
And Borson reckons Ratcliffe and co have shot themselves in the foot before they even get to the negotiating table.
He told Football Insider: “The player is going to end up boxing Manchester United in.
“I think it’s clear that United obviously want to sell the player. I mean, you just loaned him out.
“Whatever he does, whether he plays well or whether he’s mediocre, you get to next summer and there’s one bidder on the table and the player says he only wants to go to Barcelona.
“Well, in that scenario, they may well get him [on the cheap].”

Amorim showed no interest in playing Rashford last season, sending him to Aston Villa on loan in January before sticking him up for sale.
A torrid start to the campaign has since put Amorim’s job in serious jeopardy.
But Borson thinks an awful lot of unravelling would need to be done to get Rashford back to Old Trafford.
He added: “It’s a big issue for Manchester United because it is very hard to see where the upside is.
“You’re not going to bring him back unless there’s a change of manager and he’s very keen.
“He’s not coming back, and he’s almost certain to say he wants to go to Barcelona. So, you’re negotiating against yourself.”
