THE O2 Arena has changed its name to honour England Women’s Rugby World Cup success.
It is the first time the iconic venue has changed name since O2 bought the rights.
The telecommunications company have been partners of England Rugby for 30 years.
O2 became the front of shirt sponsor for both the men and women’s teams in 2002.
And they have now commemorated the Red Roses’ World Cup win by rebranding The O2 to The Rose2.
The sign above the entrance has been replaced and now features a red rose so it reads as The Rose2.
Red Roses captain Zoe Aldcroft said of the change: “Seeing The O2 become The Rose2 gave me goosebumps.
“It’s a bold tribute to everything we’ve worked so hard for; not just on the pitch, but in pushing for greater recognition of women’s rugby.
“This summer has been a landmark moment for women’s sport, and we’re proud to be part of a movement that’s inspiring a new generation and putting women’s rugby front and centre.
“Through its partnership with Academy Music Group, the congratulations extend from London to Oxford, with updated signage celebrating the win also appearing at O2 Academy Brixton, O2 Academy Oxford and O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire.”
