Woman loses both arms AND legs in horrific pit bull attack

A woman has lost all four of her limbs after she was attacked by two pit bulls while riding a bicycle.

Janelle Scott was attacked by the two vicious dogs on September 9 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, according to a GoFundMe page set up by her family.

They said that she was riding bicycles to a friend’s house with her boyfriend when the dogs knocked her off her bike.

Janelle’s boyfriend was riding behind her at the time and rushed up to try to get the dogs away from her, reportedly killing one of the animals in self defense before calling for help.

The mother-of-one was rushed to hospital with ‘significant and severe injuries’.

According to Janelle’s mother, her right arm was nearly completely severed, and was ‘only held on by tendons’.

Though doctors hoped she would only have to lose her right arm, the severity of her injuries meant she had to get all four limbs amputated.

Police told local media that the dogs may have escaped from an ‘RV-style trailer’ that had been broken into earlier that day.

They said: ‘There is an RV-type trailer located in this area, and it is reported that the dog(s) were kept within this trailer.

‘This trailer had reportedly been broken into at some point in the evening, which may have released the animals from confinement.’

Janelle’s mother Cheryl, who has been by her side in hospital for weeks, told News on 6 that she hopes the dog owner ‘pays the price’ for what happened to her daughter.

‘I just tell her I love her constantly, that I need her, that her son needs her, and we’re so thankful that she is still with us,’ Cheryl said.

The heartbroken mother said that after Janelle lost her right arm and one of her legs, she had been prepared to lose her second leg, but had hoped to keep her left arm as someone who is left-handed.

Tragically, the young woman awoke from surgery to find that her left arm had also been amputated.

‘Every day that she has to go into surgery, it’s been hard. I was wondering, “How much more can they do?”‘ Cheryl told Fox23.

‘When she lost all of her limbs, I thought, “OK, well now her body’s going to be able to heal and she’s going to be able to get through this.”‘

Paying tribute to her daughter’s resilience, Cheryl added: ‘I know that she can do it because we’re strong women, so I’m pretty sure that she’ll come through this.

‘I told her she has a purpose. I said, “Our creator wouldn’t do this, so there has to be a plan we just have to find out what it is.”‘

Janelle’s cousin Shay has set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for medical bills.

The page has so far raised more than $25,000 (£18,600), with an aim of raising $28,000.

It comes just weeks after a man was arrested following a vicious animal attack that saw a teenage girl get brutally mauled by more than 10 large-breed dogs while jogging in California , leaving her nearly ‘unrecognisable’.

Tracy Azpeitia, 17, was out jogging near her home in Newberry Springs on July 17 when she was surrounded and violently attacked by at least 10 dogs, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department

Nearly a month later, 61-year-old Craig Arthur Simmons was arrested on suspicion of being the owner of an animal causing serious injury or death, authorities announced.
