Horse racing tips: ‘He’s looked a serious talent’ – Templegate’s massive 20-1 NAP at Newmarket on Saturday

TEMPLEGATE tackles a bumper Saturday of racing confident of smashing in some winners.

Back a horse by clicking their odds below.

TREASURE TIME (3.40 Newmarket, nap)

He has always shaped like a horse with the talent to land a major handicap for William Haggas and his latest Ascot fourth hinted he is ready to peak again. He travelled strongly and stuck on well behind a progressive winner. Moving up to a strongly-run nine furlongs on a sound surface should bring out his best and he is handicapped to strike under Tom Marquand.

WISE APPROACH (3.00 Newmarket, nb)

He cost a million quid and is a half-brother to Perfect Power who won this race after taking the Morny at Deauville. He couldn’t quite match that last time but still ran an excellent race to be a close-up third in that French Group 1. That built nicely on his second in the Norfolk Stakes at the Royal meeting before a Listed victory at Newbury. He likes this trip on fast ground and has plenty more improvement to come.

VINTAGE CLARETS (2.05 Haydock, treble)

Richard Fahey’s sprinter has rediscovered his spark this summer, winning at Ascot before running a cracker when collared late at Southwell last week. He’ll be happy back on turf and handles any ground. He can strike again from a workable mark under his capable 7lb claimer.

DAYTONA can race away from his rivals in the Royal Lodge.

Aidan O’Brien’s colt was unlucky not to finish closer in a French Group 3 last time when stuck away from the main action and he looks to be crying out for a mile.

A Naas Listed win stamped him as high-class and he has the scope to go right to the top.

Presumably Wayne Lordan had the pick of the Ballydoyle runners and he’s gone for Action who was an impressive Galway winner last time.

This is a hike in class but he has bags of potential.

Bow Echo is an obvious danger after powering clear at Haydock.

He’s unbeaten and has already proven his stamina, so sets the standard. Humidity has Royal Ascot credentials from his Chesham win and ran a stormer in the Solario, so he has to be on the shortlist too.

Pacific Avenue was collared late in that Sandown contest but shaped like one crying out for a mile and comes here for the in-form Appleby-Buick team.

Ancient Egypt is bred to star and showed promise at Goodwood last time but needs to keep improving.

ROYAL FIXATION can light up the Cheveley Park.

Ed Walker’s filly produced a breathtaking turn of pace to sweep through the Lowther at York, zooming past her rivals under hands and heels to stamp herself as a potential superstar.

With William Buick keeping the ride, she looks primed to take Group 1 glory on her favoured quick ground.

Beautify brings strong Irish form, finishing a close second in the Moyglare after travelling best for much of the way.

TOTE – Bet £10 and receive £40 in free bets on football and horse racing

She already has a Group 2 win on her CV and her 7f stamina makes her a threat in the closing stages.

Stablemate True Love landed the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot before blitzing the Railway Stakes at the Curragh, and her high cruising speed makes her a real player over this trip.

America Queen chased home Royal Fixation at York and shapes as though 7f might bring further improvement, but her raw talent means she can’t be dismissed here.

Fitzella has solid form from the Princess Margaret and ran well in France last time, while Anthelia has been racking up wins in lesser company and takes her biggest step up yet.

Havana Anna, Golden Palace and Orion’s Belt all need to raise their game plenty at this much higher level.

WISE APPROACH looks a clever bet.

Coppull landed the Richmond in style at Goodwood but was well off the pace behind the tip in France. It’s too early to write him off.

The Publican’s Son is a fascinating challenger from Joseph O’Brien’s yard after a cracking second in a Curragh Group 3 on debut and looks open to plenty of improvement.

Hilitany has bolted up in two Windsor races. This is a big leap but he’s shown good pace.

Aidan O’Brien has a fantastic record in this but isn’t bringing the strongest team.

Kansas was a solid second at Doncaster last time and looks his best chance moving up in trip.

Five Ways was a Group 3 scorer on the sand at Kempton last time from the front.

He shapes as though a longer trip would suit now.

TREASURE TIME can strike gold in another red-hot Cambridgeshire.

Treble Tee has to be a big threat after his dominant Doncaster success, when he travelled smoothly and quickened away from Cash to win with authority.

He should have more to come and even under a 4lb penalty is very well treated.

John Gosden has a solid record in this race too.

Fifth Column has blossomed through the summer and showed his tenacity when snatching a valuable York handicap last time.

He is up another 5lb for that gutsy effort but he keeps finding for pressure and a strong-run race will suit his patient style.

Greek Order is well regarded and has the form to go close, particularly his excellent fourth in the Royal Hunt Cup but he has frustrated more than once and bombed out at York last time.

Connections will hope that was just an off-day as he has plenty of ability when choosing to show it.

Tribal Chief is another with strong recent form, having beaten Treble Tee at Goodwood last month.

He is talented but often slowly away, a flaw that could see him with traffic problems in this big field.

Cash, who chased home Treble Tee at Doncaster, shapes like the extra furlong will be in his favour.

He’ll need luck as he likes to come from the back but looks a solid each-way bet at a big price. Westridge has progressed since donning cheekpieces and his York third was full of merit.

He often runs well in a big field and has the excellent Billy Loughnane on board.

He’s another Gosden runner with solid claims.

Fort George has a touch of class and arrives off a Newbury win, though his best efforts have come in small fields where he can dominate.

Oisin Murphy stays on board which is a big plus.

Real Gain, lightly raced and encouraging on his comeback, is another to note if he sharpens up from that return for in-form trainer Richard Hughes.

Mister Winston ran well last time too.

HAYDOCK

2.05

VINTAGE CLARETS can put the bookies into the red.

Richard Fahey’s sprinter has rediscovered his spark this summer, winning at Ascot before running a cracker when collared late at Southwell last week.

He’ll be happy back on turf and handles any ground. He can strike again from a workable mark under his capable 7lb claimer.

Woolhampton is flying, rattling off back-to-back wins at Sandown and Ascot and, while she often leaves herself work to do, her late kick could be deadly if the gaps appear.

Duran ran a blinder at Doncaster last time and has strong course form in the book, making him another with a big say.

All Ways Glamorous keeps knocking on the door and has been edged out by smart rivals recently, so deserves respect.

Blue Storm won this race last year and should strip fitter for his comeback, while I’m Next is progressive and comes here chasing a hat-trick.

3.15

MIDNIGHT GUN can hit the target.

He shaped far better than the bare result in the Lincoln, faring best of the pace pushers, and he’s right at home on this easy ground.

Proven at the trip, he’s weighted to strike under Cieren Fallon.

The only worry is fitness after a long break but he’s gone well fresh before and had some smart form as a three-year-old.

Fondo Blanco has been knocking on the door with two excellent seconds and this is his best trip, while First Ambition is unbeaten and looks a serious prospect for the red-hot Karl Burke team.

This is a hot contest for his handicap debut but there’s potential there.

Christian David battled bravely to score at Newbury last week and shouldn’t be underestimated taking a step up in grade, while Hawksbill has strong course form but needs to bounce back from a modest run at Doncaster last time.

El Matador is still learning but has class about him, while Tilted Kilt wasn’t far off winning here last time and remains a threat if seeing daylight at the right time as he likes to come from the back.
