Democrats have themselves a military problem and, in a way, it’s kind of fascinating.
Their problem is not that they don’t have veterans – they do – but some of the kind of veterans they have. The kind who appear to have these impressive military credentials they trade on repeatedly, until it turns out they’ve been…um…oh, let’s say ’embellished’ for lack of a better word.
God forbid I accuse anyone of flat-out lying about anything, like claiming to be a combat veteran when they’ve never even been near a warzone.
Richard Blumenthal is lecturing Pete Hegseth.
The same Richard Blumenthal who lied on several occasions for political gain claiming that he served in the Vietnam War when he was a Marine reservist who never left American soil.

So strange, these Democrat military Walter Mittys.
To answer everyone’s questions about the video being shared. Governor Tim Walz’s service record indicates that he did not deploy to a combat zone. Instead, he was stationed in Italy to support combat operations. While all Soldiers carry an M4/M16 rifle during training,… pic.twitter.com/vGIsSv3asr

I know we’ve had one memorable and colorful Republican claimant to the combat vet label in recent memory. The difference was that J.R. Majewski was forced to drop out once the AP revealed that the closest he might have come to ‘combat’ was if he had been in a cargo plane out of Qatar and flown over an area where people were shooting during the six months he was stationed there.
There are the Democrat veterans who have leaned heavily on their service as part of their image, yet had little holes in otherwise perfectly acceptable military careers poked because they wanted that teensy bit of extra luster.
Governor Wes Moore’s ‘they told me I had one’ excuse for saying he was the recipient of an award he was never given.

What a terrible answer by Wes Moore on whether or not he had a Bronze Star

Another example of a Democratic politician featuring service front and center as a reason to vote for them is the New Jersey Democratic nominee for governor, Mikie Sherrill.
The Congresswoman who, during her first congressional campaign, cut an ad that talked about her grandfather inspiring her to join the Armed Forces.
And whose very first ad for her gubernatorial run had her tricked out in a flight jacker, striding meanfully past a helicopter.
Mikie Sherrill, Naval Academy graduate and Navy helo pilot, is so proud of her military record that she’s bragged about it and her ‘transparency’ as recently as during her disastrous debate this past Sunday afternoon.
IT’S ALL PUBLIC…THERE HAVE BEEN ARTICLES WRITTEN ABOUT HOW TRANSPARENT AND ETHICAL I’VE BEEN, GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND
How can Mikie Sherrill run “the most transparent governors race we’ve seen in this state (NJ)” when you wouldn’t unseal discipline military records
Am I wrong, or does it sound like you might have lied here 🤔 at the debate Mikie? https://t.co/TtIkgqLyaM pic.twitter.com/MTyRtR65l7

But she wouldn’t unseal her military records for some reason.
Which seemed odd, but there is still quite a bit to be gleaned—or confirmed—from what can be requested publicly, and the Ciattarelli campaign had dutifully submitted such paperwork.
What came back from the archives was a bit of a stunner.

Mikie Sherrill was barred from walking with her graduation class at Annapolis because she had ‘failed to report classmates’ who were involved in a massive cheating scandal at the academy.
Rep. Mikie Sherrill, the Democratic nominee for governor of New Jersey, was barred from walking with her class at the U.S. Naval Academy in 1994 as a punishment connected to the massive cheating scandal that implicated over 130 midshipmen in her class.
A copy of the commencement program from May 25, 1994, obtained by the New Jersey Globe, does not include Sherrill’s name. Sherrill said that her absence from the ceremony was a consequence of failing to report classmates who had been involved in the scandal.
“I didn’t turn in some of my classmates, so I didn’t walk, but graduated and was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Navy, serving for nearly ten years with the highest level of distinction and honor,” Sherrill said.
However, the Sherrill campaign rejected a request that she permit public inspection of any disciplinary records from her time at the academy. Only Sherrill could authorize the release of those sealed records.
Sherrill has made her military service as a U.S. Naval Academy graduate and helicopter pilot the centerpiece of her political identity, but has never publicly discussed her class’s cheating controversy in stump speeches or interviews. There were rumors that she was tied to the scandal in 2018 when she sought to flip a House seat in New Jersey’s 11th district, but it was suggested to the New Jersey Globe at the time that Sherrill was not involved.
The scandal revolved around electrical engineering exam answers that some midshipmen obtained and shared with their classmates in December 1992. Two dozen of Sherrill’s classmates were expelled, and one of those involved said in 2002 that he thought more than 400 out of the 663 midshipmen who took the exam had seen copies of it in advance.
I have to admit, I was flabbergasted last night when I read this. Jaw literally hit my keyboard.
For my part, after serving on Sen Marco Rubio’s Naval Academy Regional Recommendation Screening Boards for over ten years, I do not understand how this woman was allowed to graduate. The service academy Honor Cade is at the very heart of the values those institutions are attempting to instill in their attendees. Every midshipman swears an oath to follow the tenets within and become a person unafraid and determined to live a life of MORAL COURAGE.
Midshipmen are persons of integrity: They stand for that which is right.
They tell the truth and ensure that the truth is known.
They do not lie. They embrace fairness in all actions. They ensure that work submitted as their own is their own, and that assistance received from any source is authorized and properly documented.
They do not cheat. They respect the property of others and ensure that others are able to benefit from the use of their own property.
They do not steal.
The moral courage to do what is right, as opposed to ‘not rat out my friends‘ as Sherrill explained it yesterday.
I now completely understand all her ‘oopsies’ and ethics fines while in Congress.
Those of us who had some concept of what a devastating indictment of Sherrill’s character this revelation is have plenty to say.
Even in NROTC we were repeatedly every year that “A Midshipman does not lie, cheat, or steal, nor do they tolerate anyone who does.” I even graduated in 1994 the same as she did!

…And those who would CHEAT OR LIE in something like SCHOOL will quite conceivably also be the LOWLIFE RATS who COST LIVES as officers later.
So honor demands you do not tolerate the weaknesses that kill people. That turn the troops under you because they know you are a weak scumbag out for yourself.
That is who this woman has defended and the trust she broke.
SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN EXPELLED
What a disgrace and no small surprise she’s freaking out.
And, no doubt, the only reason she wasn’t expelled is that she is a female.
Army has an explicit toleration clause.
— Small Gov Lizard (@smallgovlizard) September 26, 2025
Again, disgraceful and utterly disgusting.
Of course, Sherrill’s defenders are going ape over the ‘leak’ of the information, and she’s fundraising off it already.
I’d bet there are many working at USNA that believe the shame brought about by cheating warranted this sunlight.
It is highly likely this leak settled a long festering feud.
Dishonor swept under eventually surfaces.
What leadership qualities does a cheater possess?
— Ornery Hounds👀 (@OrneryHounds) September 26, 2025
Besides lambasting Ciattarelli’s campaign for releasing everything they received back from the archives.
GP Once the recordkeeper screwed up and released Mikie Sherrill’s military records, is it *really* a bad thing her opponent released those records to the press and now NJ voters know she’s a disreputable POS who never should’ve been permitted to graduate the USNA?
— The Gormogons (@Gormogons) September 26, 2025
It was dead heat poll after the debate and then this broke.
