The widening rift that has seen Brooklyn Beckham increasingly isolated from his immediate family appeared to be the least of his worries on Wednesday afternoon.
Brooklyn and his actress wife Nicola Peltz are currently at the heart of an acrimonious divide that has resulted in his absence from all significant family celebrations over recent months, including his father’s milestone 50th birthday.
But he may have been wishing for a touch of his famous father’s sporting abilities after turning out for a Ryder Cup celebrity golf tournament in New York.
Brooklyn, 26, joined an all-star lineup that included former basketball player Toni Kukoč, American football ace Eli Manning and Saturday Night Live star Colin Jost in the first round of the celebrity play-offs at Bethpage Black Course in Farmingdale.
It would prove to be a chastening experience for David and Victoria’s eldest son, who courted a chorus of pantomime jeers from fans as he made his way around the sprawling course.
Worse, a newly bearded Brooklyn found himself wandering aimlessly through shrubbery for his lost golf ball after a poor swing saw it dramatically swerve into golfing oblivion.

‘Can’t they just use another ball?’ asked one onlooker, evidently unfamiliar with the rules of golf, as they watched Brooklyn attempt to retrieve it.
The day had already started poorly for Brooklyn, who found himself hacking at sand shortly after teeing off when his ball came to rest in a bunker.
The error ultimately foreshadowed his later efforts, with the influencer finding himself well acquainted with the bunker as the tournament wore on.
An insider told the Daily Mail that he had horrible luck from the get-go after losing his golf ball and had to start over when his team spent longer than the allowed three minutes trying to find it.
Throughout the 11-hole game, he repeatedly hit the ball out of bounds and kept getting it stuck in the bunkers.
Onlookers made comments about how ‘terrible’ he was and how he had ‘no talent.’
‘Hitting trees, can’t get out of bunkers,’ one disgruntled fan remarked.

Meanwhile, another fan commented to Beckham’s teammate Kukoč as he passed by, ‘Isn’t he making you look small?’
Some onlookers even questioned whether he was really a ‘celebrity’ and asked others who he was. Those who did know described him as ‘David Beckham’s son.’
The biggest celebrity in match one was former football star Eli Manning, 44.
Fans held up posters and begged Manning to sign their baseball caps or other memorabilia they had brought to the Ryder Cup. Some younger fans even brought along their footballs to play catch with him in between each hole.
‘Beckham was not in a good mood the entire game, it seemed like,’ the insider said.
‘He had his head down whenever he walked by fans who were shouting for either Eli or Colin. It was obvious that he had very few fans of his own.’
The insider continued, ‘At one point, he walked far away from the crowd behind the rope, as though he didn’t want to deal with the rowdy USA team fans.’
The only support he got was from his caddy, who ‘would pat him on the back as if he was telling him it was OK’ or from another member of the team, who would give him a fist bump if he made a good shot.

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail following the game, Brooklyn admitted he knew the fans were not there to cheer him on.
‘I feel like they didn’t like me at all – but it was amazing,’ he said.
‘They gave me a bit of rubbish but I kind of expected it – being in New York, going against Eli… they were just laughing. But it is what it is, I was having fun out there. I did the best I could. It was honestly just really fun.’
The former photographer claimed that he only had weeks of golf experience.
‘Honestly, it was really nerve-wracking… but it was such a cool experience – I couldn’t say no. It was amazing,’ he added.
Appearing unbothered by negative comments about himself and his family, he went on to say, ‘There’s always going to be people saying negative things, but I have a very supportive wife.
‘Me and her, we just do our thing, we just keep our heads down and work. And we’re happy.’
His wife Nicola, 30, remained in Los Angeles to take care of their four dogs.

The only support Brooklyn received was from his caddy who – aside from giving him pointers during the game – ‘would pat him on the back as if he was telling him it was OK’

It’s been reported that she and Brooklyn are estranged from his parents and siblings. The couple renewed their vows over the summer in front of family members from Peltz’s side of the family.
He has not appeared at any of his family members’ birthday parties in recent months, including brother Romeo Beckham’s 23rd birthday celebration earlier this month – as confirmed by a source who spoke to the Daily Mail.
Representing Europe, Brooklyn and Kukoč lost to Manning and Jost with the final score 7.5 to 3.5. Combined with the other three celebrity matches, the Europe team lost to the USA team with a final score of 25 to 19 points.
Other celebrities who took part in the match included Michael Strahan, Miranda Lambert, Kane Brown, Bobby Flay, Catherine Zeta Jones, Tom Felton, Pau Gasol, Noah Kahan, Oliver Phelps, John McEnroe, Teemu Selänne and Chef José Andrés.

Later in the day, he attended the Glenfiddich x Aston Martin Formula One Team Limited Edition Scotch Whisky launch event
