NY Post: A once-celebrated Boston social activist has pleaded guilty to defrauding donors — including Black Lives Matter — out of thousands of dollars that she used as a personal piggy bank.

Monica Cannon-Grant, 44, pleaded guilty Monday to 18 counts of fraud-related crimes that she committed with her late husband while operating their Violence in Boston (VIB) activists group, according to the US Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts.

The activist scammed money — including $3,000 from a BLM group — while claiming it was to help feed children and run protests like one in 2020 over the murder of George Floyd and police violence.

Ed: This turned out to be a bit different than the headline suggested. In this case, a BLM chapter got victimized by the grifter rather than grifting themselves. Looks like she’ll be a guest at Club Fed for a while.

…  but a super-hero Karen, put in place by President Kamala’s DEI program, uses her computer savvy to save the day.

If Apple sticks to this script it is guaranteed an award by @TheEmmys.

If this is the case probably a good call  by Apple to put a temporary hold on this ala Kimmel.

Ed: How about this for a pitch: A massive tech platform with a corporate motto of “Don’t Be Evil” winds up colluding with shadowy gov’t figures to quash dissent and debate on its most popular platform. Suspicious about the disappearing creators, a brash young and attractive Mary Sue goes undercover at the platform and follows the trail of conspiracy and corruption all the way to the White House — where she discovers that the president is actually incapacitated and a ‘politburo’ of radicals has taken over and subverted democracy.





And the best part? They can rightfully claim, “Based on a true story”!

Hollywood in Toto: Now, a new film that glorifies political violence is about to hit theaters following a fresh attack on an ICE facility.

“One Battle After Another,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio, casts the Oscar winner as an open borders radical attempting to save his daughter from a racist government official (Sean Penn).

Director Paul Thomas Anderson’s film glorifies violence in the name of social justice, specifically defying immigration laws. The radical group in question blows up buildings, shoots security guards and justifies violence from start to finish.

No one on screen regrets their actions or has a change of heart.

Ed: They really want to get people killed, don’t they? And frankly, I like my idea better. Have mine call yours, Hollywood. Let’s do lunch.

Ed: Bessent must be old enough to recall the old NY Daily News headline from the Ford administration era. I don’t think Mamdani can do that much damage on his own, though. He’ll need Albany to REALLY screw things up — and if/when that happens, the capital will flee for good this time. Y’All Street awaits in Dallas.

NY Post: Seen from the sky, the Ivanpah Solar Power Facility in California’s Mojave Desert resembles a futuristic dream.

Viewed from the bottom line, however, Ivanpah is anything but.

The solar power plant, which features three 459-foot towers and thousands of computer-controlled mirrors known as heliostats, cost some $2.2 billion to build.

Construction began in 2010 and was completed in 2014. Now, it’s set to close in 2026 after failing to efficiently generate solar energy.

Ed: It’s a leftover and slower-motion Solyndra from Barack Obama’s stimulus spending. This was a gamble on speculative technology that didn’t make a lot of sense at the time, and as a side effect, it also kills 6,000 birds a year in the vicinity. So much for the environment.

The full extent of the charges being prepared against Comey is unclear, but the sources believe that at least one element of the indictment—if it goes forward–will accuse him of lying to Congress during his testimony on September 30, 2020 about whether he authorized a leak of information.  The five year statute of limitations on that charge would lapse on Tuesday.

Ed: As Ted Cruz wrote to the DoJ, either Comey or Andrew McCabe lied to Congress about leaking material to the press from the Russiagate investigation. Comey made the mistake of doubling down on his denial in Congressional testimony in September 2020. We’ll see if a grand jury will actually issue a bill, though; the DoJ hasn’t had the best luck with that of late.

Matt Taibbi: When Kimmel was fired by Disney, commentators rushed to speculate about a suit, with Politico going so far as to say Kimmel “should have strong odds at the Supreme Court.” Politico’s ostensible point was that unlike the Murthy v. Missouri Supreme Court case, in which defendants like NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya were sent back down to the lower court because (as Politico put it) “they could not link anything the federal government did to the suppression of their speech,” Kimmel had a great shot. As University of Chicago law professor Aziz Huq put it, “the evidence of ‘specific causation’” with Kimmel was “plain to see.”

Berenson has a better case than either Kimmel or the Murthy defendants. The Supreme Court claimed the Murthy defendants failed to prove a “substantial risk of future injury that is traceable to the government defendants” — in other words, even if plaintiffs like Bhattacharya could prove they were suppressed, they couldn’t “trace” the suppression back to specific government action. Berenson doesn’t have that problem. The last reporter to have access to the Twitter Files, he obtained documents that firmly demonstrated causation and eviscerated the “traceability” problem that sank Murthy. This is one of the reasons why it’s important to get a settlement. If someone with such extraordinary access to the scene of the crime can’t win, who can?

As bad as the Murthy evidence was, the Berenson material was worse. As reported by David Zweig, Twitter head of Government Affairs Lauren Culbertson wrote, “one of the first meeting requests from the Biden White House was about COVID-19 misinformation” and “Biden’s staff focused on vaccines and high-profile anti-vaxxer accounts, including Alex Berenson.”





Ed: In this case, as Matt reminds us, we have video proof — Joe Biden accusing Facebook of “killing people” for platforming vaccine skeptics. I’d ask why the media isn’t focusing on Berenson as a First Amendment martyr when he’s clearly far better positioned than Kimmel, but … we all know why.

John Schindler at WashEx: Executing a ban presents legal challenges. Although the government has banned certain foreign terrorist organizations since 1997, including al Qaeda, Hamas, and Hezbollah, the challenge is that, as the name implies, foreign terrorist organizations must be foreign. At present, there exists no mechanism to ban domestic groups that embrace violence to further their political aims.

But what if antifa is a foreign terrorist organization? There’s solid evidence for that assertion. Born in 1930s Germany, on the orders of Josef Stalin, under the leadership of the German Communist Party, antifa, in its DNA, is a violent revolutionary organization. With good reason, Berlin today deems antifa an extremist threat to democracy. Germany’s domestic intelligence agency recently noted a sharp rise in antifa-related violence, observing that “the potential threat posed by violent left-wing extremism remains high.”





American liberals, including top Democrats, habitually pretend that antifa is a myth, cooked up by overheated Republican imaginations: Berlin, where antifa was born, isn’t so easily fooled. There are demonstrable connections between antifa cells in the United States and in many Western countries. Democrats have pooh-poohed Trump’s push against antifa as political theater, but multiple NATO partners agree with the White House. Hungary and the Netherlands are following Trump’s lead, and other U.S. allies are expected to do the same. Antifa is a transnational extremist group that endorses terrorism, and it’s time we confronted it.

Ed: It is indeed. I’m satisfied with the DoJ investigating Antifa and its activities even without the legal designation, but the international links could facilitate that and get more resources assigned to breaking it up.

Ed: This is a nice way to go out for the day. Now, if the young man had turned around and said, “Do I get a follow-up?”, that would have been legendary.
