ASDA has recalled popular kids’ toys sold for two years – as a result of a choking hazard.
The retailer previously pulled its range of Hapello Sensory Rollers after discovering they may contain small pieces of plastic that could become dislodged.
Six months on, Asda has extended this recall to include multiple production batches.
This encompasses batch codes 34, 35, 36, 37, and 39, all bearing the same barcode: 5063089161708.
Meanwhile, the retailer initially recalled only batch 36 after finding a fault in the manufacturing process.
Back in March, Asda told shoppers who purchased the affected batch to “stop using it immediately”.
It added: “We have found that in a small number of cases, batch #36 of Hapello may pose a risk of choking due to the potential release of a small piece of plastic lodged in the toy in the manufacturing process.”
Priced at £7, the toy is described online as “the perfect addition for your little ones playtime!”
The description adds: “The 6 shapes included all have different patterns, textures, and colours with rattle sounds for added sensory experience.”
Earlier this year, another popular children’s toy was recalled after being found to have a “serious risk of suffocating.”
Parents were warned not to let their kids use the toy.
The Nail Art Studio kit, by the brand Girls Creator, was made in China.
It includes nail varnish, a battery-operated nail dryer and a range of nail accessories.
But a warning was issued after a product safety report found a risk of suffocation for children.
This is because the plastic bag that comes with it “does not meet the minimum thickness requirement”.
The report said: “If left unattended, a young child could place the bag over their mouth or head and suffocate.
“The packaging of the product also does not meet the requirements for labelling and consumer safety information, which may result in inadequate information being available to consumers.”
In July, a toy sold in Boots was urgently recalled over fears it could pose a health risk to youngsters.
See and Sound Giant Flashcards are sold for around £10 and aimed at babies and toddlers as a fun way to learn animal names and sounds.
The recall only applied to a specific batch — code SPHK/001622/132/16.01.25 — which can be found printed on the side of the packaging.
