Screaming is then heard, as a compilation of clips see stars are ripped from their cars by terrifying hooded figures, struggling to free each other from padlocks and even placed inside a coffin, with the door slammed shut
Fellow funnyman Stephen can be seen having the same dilemma as he is heard admitting: ‘I don’t know what beasts lie within me’.
While talking heads from other celebs show a determination to come out on top, with actress Celia declaring: ‘I’m here to win’ and Olympian Tom vowing: ‘I’m going to fight to the death.’

Host Claudia Winkleman then welcomes the contestants to the game, before warning them not to expect the same advantages that their fame and riches bring them in the real world.
As the group squeals in delight at their first glimpses at the castle, Claudia can be heard saying: ‘Players, welcome to the Highlands. Now I know out in the real world you’re very important and successful. But here, there is no special treatment.’
Telling everyone the rules, she continues: ‘Traitors, remain undetected and murder the Faithful. Faithful, you must hunt down the Traitors’.
And despite being confident stars of stage, screen and film, the contestants are visibly unable to hide their nerves as they make their way to the famous round table and eye each other in suspicion.
Clips are seen of players forming strong bonds and friendships while trying valiantly to reassure each other they are Faithfuls, with some attempt to create alliances.

One appears to involve the stars being tasked with dragging a large wooden structure on wheels, as Claudia yells encouragement at them from the sidelines.
The tension of the game is also palpable in the short trailer, with EastEnders star Tameka declaring: ‘I want to win I’m not going to lie, I want to win’ while a nervous Lucy says: ‘This is life or death isn’t it?’
Viewers also get to see a quick shot of the turret, where the Traitors meet in secret in order to decide who to kill without being seen or heard by the Faithful – with a smirking Claudia seen instructing them: ‘Go forth and murder’.
But even well-seasoned Traitors fans could be in for a few surprises, with Paloma seen gasping in shock as historian David comments: ‘That’s quite a twist.’
The exhilarating trailer ends with the contestants removing their blindfolds at the roundtable after Claudia has silently chosen which of them will be Traitors.
The Strictly star is heard ominously declaring: ‘I have selected my Traitors. Tomorrow, the killing spree begins…’
Celebrity Traitors will officially kick off on Wednesday 8 October at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.

Actor Mark recently opened up on filming the hotly-anticipated show, and revealed that the cast have a group WhatsApp chat together.
He told The Sunday Times: ‘It’s so intense — you have no phone, so all you think about is the show. The line-up was pretty starry.
‘Stephen Fry has been omnipresent in my life — I watched Blackadder growing up — and I loved chatting to Jonathan Ross about Nirvana. It’s mad being in a Traitors WhatsApp group with them all.’
Stephen himself gave an insight into his ’emotionally violent’ stint on the series, likening the experience to ‘a Chinese foot massage’ as he praised the programme
Speaking on The Show People podcast, the actor explained: ‘It was a bit like a Chinese foot massage. You know it is absolutely agony but you sort of want to do it again. It is emotionally violent but you kind of love it.
‘Obviously, I can’t say a word about what is in this recently recorded celebrity version I suppose. I am certainly not telling you if I am a traitor or a faithful. I am one or the other.

‘I have said no to any number of Strictlys and Get Me Out of Heres as it is just not my kind of thing. But this, I watched the first and second series and it is such a clever game.’
He added: ‘It’s so extraordinary what it does to the psychology of the individual. And I just thought it would be really interesting to play it. And what an opportunity to do so. And that’s what I found.’
And as anticipation builds for the first ever UK celebrity iteration, the salaries of the high-profile cast were recently revealed by The Rest Is Entertainment podcast.
Rather than being paid individual wages, all of the celebrities were paid the same £40,000 fee to appear on the show, according to journalist Marina Hyde.
‘It’s certainly interesting to compare something like Celebrity Traitors on the BBC to I’m a Celebrity on ITV,’ she told her co-host Richard Osman while discussing BBC wages generally.
‘Although we haven’t seen the celebrity iteration yet, but we know it’s gonna be massive. Look at the calibre of the people they got.’
‘They were able to pay everybody a blanket 40k fee, right? I am spilling all my tea today. They’re paying them a 40k fee,’ she shared.

Pointless host Richard, 54, compared it to The White Lotus – where the celebrity cast were all paid a base rate of $40,000 (£29,000) per episode, not any individual rates.
‘It’s like White Lotus when everyone got paid the same, they got paid much less than you would normally do,’ he said before hastening to add that ‘everyone is massively overpaid in the entertainment business’.
Richard then teased that he knows someone who has seen the first episode, describing it as ‘amazing’ as he hinted fans won’t be disappointed.
