‘Screaming’ girl, 8, mauled in FACE by vicious Belgian Malinois in horror attack at high street market

AN EIGHT-YEAR-OLD girl has been left with facial scars after a viscous dog attack at a market in Kent.

The mutt, a large Belgian Malinois named Scooby, jumped at the little girl while she was visiting a market in Folkestone, Kent.

The little girl was browsing stalls on Sandgate Road with her dad when the horror unfolded on May 18 last year.

She suffered wounds to her cheek and abdomen, before screaming in fright and running to her father.

Folkestone magistrates heard that the dog attack left the girl “shaken, quiet and clingy.”

She will be left with permanent scars as a result of the assault.

Owner Mr Kadir fled the scene with his dog still on the lead after the girl was attacked.

But the child’s father followed him and tried to confront him.

As he approached, the hound turned bit the man, leaving him with puncture wounds on his arm.

The court ordered Scooby must be put down following the attacks, while his owner has been banned from keeping any dogs for five years.

The court was told that Scooby had previously lunged at a police officer and locked his jaws around their wrist.

The attack took place just a couple of months after The Sun reported on a four-year-old boy being mauled by the same breed.

Belgian Malinois dogs are highly energetic and often used by police, the military due to their strength and intelligence.

There are currently four dog breeds banned in the UK, and some obedience experts argue the Belgian Malinois should be added to the list.

Dog behaviour experts say they need thousands of hours of training and can become dangerous if not handled properly.

This comes after we reported yesterday how a man was rushed to hospital after he was “attacked by a pack of Bullies and Staffies” while he was out walking his dog.

Police have said they have arrested a 27-year-old man.

The emergency services attended the scene at Bogleshole Road in Cambuslang, on the outskirts of Glasgow at around 5.05pm on Friday, following reports of a “group of dogs setting upon a man and his dog”.

Police Scotland have confirmed a 65-year-old man had been taken to hospital for treatment and his dog taken to a vet.

Officers also said they have since arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the incident.

And last week we reported how at least four armed cops rushed to a Leicester park after an alleged dog attack left children screaming.

Two loose dogs mauled another dog in Westcotes Gardens on Saturday afternoon.

Elsewhere, a one-year-old boy suffered injuries after he was bitten by a dog, as cops issued a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to.

The incident is thought have taken place at Arnos Court Park, in Brislington, in the south east area of Bristol, at around 5.45pm on July 29.

The child was taken to hospital for treatment for bruising and puncture wounds to the arm and he has since been discharged.
