Unassuming family home in Shrewsbury goes on sale for £399,000 – but people are left stunned by a very unusual feature

A family home on sale up for £399,000 boasts a unique feature in the bathroom, which people have joked is ‘super romantic’.

At first glance, the detached house, which is on the market for £400,000, appeared to be just an ordinary five-bedroom property in Shrewsbury.

However, snaps of the property, which was listed on Rightmove by Miller Evans Estate Agents, showed that all wasn’t as it seems, as people spotted two loos just inches apart from one another in the main bathroom.

Taking to TikTok, the Housing Horrors account pointed out the confusing layout, in a video which gained over 3,000 views.

In the clip, the creator begins with a clear warning: ‘This house has the strangest bathroom I have ever seen.

‘You were not gonna be ready for this. It’s a five-bed detached in Shrewsbury, £400,000. Why the b***** h*** is there two toilets right next to each other?’

Indeed, the footage shows two full-sized toilets lined up just inches apart, with no screen, no divider, and certainly no privacy.

The TikToker quipped: ‘We’re talking a his-and-her situation now. Imagine needing a Number two, you’ve only got this one bathroom, and your wife or your husband is [sitting] right next to you.

‘Now I genuinely cannot for the absolute life of me work out why on earth there are two toilets right next to each other.

‘This has got to be the strangest bathroom toilet situation I have ever seen.’

‘Imagine bringing a girl back, she needs to use the toilet, she sees the two – she would run a mile.’

As speculation mounted in the comments, the creator offered one possible theory.

He added: ‘Now I would love to know the actual story behind this. The only potential reason I can actually think of is maybe someone in the property has a disability and they, for whatever reason, need two toilets.

Maybe they need a, you know, a helper to use the other one. I don’t know, I don’t know, but maybe I’m clutching at straws.’

However, Will Miller, an associate at Miller Evans Estate Agents, suggested the feature was a hangover from when the property was a pub.

Speaking to The Sun he said: ‘The property used to be a pub, so I can only imagine that it used to be two toilet stalls and they had taken them out but kept the toilets there.
