COPS are hunting a masked machete yob who slashed a shopkeeper.
The hooded thug lurked in bushes then ambushed Nadar Shahzad, 53, as he left the store to put out rubbish.
After chopping at the dad-of-three’s face the attacker fled the scene in Coalburn, Lanarkshire. Nadar was taken to University Hospital Wishaw for treatment.
He has since been released with a bandage covering the right side of his face. Nadar, whose family have run the store for 34 years, said he had “no idea” why he was targeted.
Speaking from his home in nearby Kirkmuirhill, he added: “I’ve never had issues with anybody.
“It’s a random thing.
“I can’t remember much about it, it happened that fast.” Cops have checked CCTV footage but the slim, 6ft assailant’s face was behind a snood.
Appealing for witnesses, Detective Constable Alison Geal said: “This was a nasty attack.
“The man had been hiding for at least two hours before.”
We previously reported how two men were injured after a man was spotted with a “machete” on a Scots street.
The armed man was spotted with the bladed weapon on Tollcross Road in Glasgow earlier this month.
Armed police were deployed to the incident after the alarm was raised.
One of the injured men was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary to be treated.
Cops launched a search for the man after arriving on the scene.
They managed to find the weapon – understood to be a machete.
A man was also seen smashing up a car with the weapon nearby.
