Posting on social media, the Irish content creator gave viewers an insight into her life at sea, leaving many totally stunned.

The blonde, who travels with Holland America and is currently on an MS Koningsdam, has spent time in Alaska, the Caribbean, Hawaii, French Polynesia and Mexico since starting her cruise ship life.

When asked why she lives on a cruise ship, Megan confirmed: “12 years ago, I got a job working in the spa on board cruise ships – sailed the world, had the best time of my life in my early 20s and I did that for five years.”

During those five years, Megan met her now-husband Marvin, a safety officer, and the couple decided that she would give up her job at sea and be a “full-time wife on board.”

Now, the couple are able to spend lots of time together, despite Marvin’s busy schedule.

Megan also revealed all on the cost of living on a cruise ship – and it’s sure to leave you stunned.

When asked, “do you have to pay for food and accommodation on board?” Megan confirmed: “You’re gonna hate me, but no – the only thing I pay for is my flights to and from the ship – on board, I can eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, everything in between for free.”

Not only this, but the influencer also acknowledged that she gets “a bit of a discount” on alcoholic drinks and anything she buys in the shops whilst on board.

When it comes to the worst thing about living on a cruise ship, Megan recognised: “Kind of understandably, your friends and family – you miss them a lot.”

And where restrictions are concerned, Megan continued: “I get the best of both worlds – I can partake in all the crew stuff, go to the crew bar, crew parties, activities, all that kind of thing, and I can also do everything that the guests can do.”

Megan recognised that paying guests come first, so she would use her common sense with situations, particularly when the ship is busy.

As well as this, she revealed the one thing she can’t do.

“The only thing I cannot do is go to the casino and gamble, for obvious reasons,” she concluded.

Are cruise ship staff allowed to sleep with guests?

IN one word, “NO!”

Sleeping with the guests is strictly prohibited on board cruise ships, with strict consequences for any member of staff caught copulating with a tourist – but that doesn’t stop it happening.

One ship worker, who worked on a Celebrity Cruises boat, explained: “Fraternisation with passengers is strictly forbidden – any crew member even suspected of being with a guest is asking for big trouble.”

He went on to explain that the rules were put into place “after a number of incidents of guests utilizing a variation of the ‘honey trap’.”

“Guests would lure unsuspecting crew to their cabins, sleep with them and then the next day claim sexual assault and filing lawsuits against the cruise line,” he said.

However, another former cruise ship musician said that fraternising with holidaymakers is so commonplace that staff even have a special term for it.

“We call sleeping with passengers ‘coning’ as passengers were ‘cones’,” he said.

“We know the all the nooks and crannies the cameras don’t reach.”

Social media users react

Megan’s TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @megankatemcg, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as at the time of writing, it had quickly racked up 31,500 views.
