DRIVERS are facing down major delays on a busy UK motorway following two “serious collisions.”
The M5 in Devon has been closed from J27 SampfordPeverell to J28 Cullompton following the horror smashes.
Emergency services raced to respond to the “serious collisions” earlier this morning and remain on scene.
Diversions have been put in place but rush hour motorists have been warned to expect serious delays in the wake of the crashes.
The stretch of road is expected to remain closed for most of the day while the chaotic scene is dealt with.
Planned roadworks between J28 and J29 are also slowing rush hour traffic on the busy motorway.
National Highways said: “The M5 southbound in Devon J27 SampfordPeverell to J28 Cullompton is in the process of being closed.
“Devon and Cornwall Police are dealing with a serious collision.
“Be aware there is also a planned roadworks closure J28 – J29.”
