Why Margot Robbie’s racy new look is causing uproar: Star has sexed up her post-baby wardrobe – to the dismay of fans

Most new mums are a slave to leggings and sweatshirts in the year after giving birth as they negotiate sleepless nights and stretch marks.

But, Margot Robbie has decided to take her post-pregnancy style in the opposite direction – by embracing even sexier, more revealing outfits.

Back in the spotlight after giving birth to her first child last October, Margot, 35, seems keen to prove that ‘mum style’ doesn’t have to mean dungarees and dry shampoo.

In fact, the Australian A-lister has upped the ante when it comes to her back-to-work style, wearing a series of provocative, body-baring looks to promote her new film, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.

Margot, who gave birth to a son with husband Tom Ackerley, made sure her return to the spotlight didn’t get overlooked and that she was very much still part of the Hollywood elite.

At the New York premiere of the romantic fantasy film on Monday, Margot wore a vintage Mugler gown, made of a white push-up bustier and draping thigh-split skirt.

The look was made famous by Honor Fraser, who wore it on the catwalk in 1998, while holding a cigarette, and was more recently worn by Kendall Jenner.

On Tuesday, she wore a thigh-skimming black and white print mini-dress and chunky black heels.

Last week, Margot wore a crystal-covered ‘nude’ dress from Armani Privé’s spring/summer 2025 couture collection, on the red carpet for the film in London.

The dress had a completely open back and strategically-embroidered jewels across the chest. She wore just a thong underneath.

Elsewhere on the press tour for the film, Margot wore underwear as outerwear during a photocall on a London rooftop.

She posed in just a pink satin Mugler bra and matching pencil skirt – also from the fashion house’s 1998 collection.

After months out of the spotlight as she got to grips with motherhood, the Barbie actress is gearing up for a busy season as she promotes the new big-screen film, in which she stars opposite Colin Farell.

She has also shot her role as Cathy in Emerald Fennell’s forthcoming adaptation of Wuthering Heights, opposite Jacob Elordi as Heathcliffe, which will come out next February.

While Margot is happy to reveal all on the red carpet, she has been more private about her new role as a mother. She is yet to share her son’s name or any details about the birth.

‘If you try to explain it to someone who has kids, you don’t need to because they get it,’ she recently told Entertainment Tonight.

‘And if they don’t, it’s probably just really boring to hear. So, you’re just kind of like, “It’s the best.”’

Back in 2016, she said she wanted ‘tons of children’ as she is one of four, and added: ‘Once I have kids, they’ll be my priority, so I want to do the family thing later.’

She has been in a relationship with British film producer Ackerley since 2013 and the pair wed in a private ceremony in Byron Bay in 2016.

Margot’s latest movie offering, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, tells the story of Sarah (Robbie) and David (Colin Farrell), who meet at a mutual friend’s wedding.

They are soon swept up in an otherworldly adventure to relive their past milestone moments together.

Sony Pictures released the first trailer in June for the film, that follows the two strangers on a bizarre journey through their own pasts.

They discover a strange door in the woods that is somehow a portal to their pasts, as they relive their core memories together, like David’s unrequited love and Sarah’s mother dying.

The film also stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Hamish Linklater, Lily Rabe, Billy Magnussen and Jodie Turner-Smith, and hits cinemas on September 19.

‘The script was exquisite and felt very original, magical and romantic, and I wanted to do a love story,’ Margot said and added cheekily that ‘I would obviously love to do a love story with Colin Farrell’.

Fans are already showering praise on the movie after the first footage was released, with some even calling it the ‘movie of the year’.

The trailer begins with David and Sarah first meeting somewhere, seemingly on vacation, as they both confirm they’re there alone.
