From ‘phenomenal’ to ‘grim’: Traveller gives verdict on McDonald’s across the world after visiting over 40 destinations

With over thousands of McDonald’s across the world, there are plenty of restaurants to choose from in more than 100 countries.

One traveller has visited ‘at least 40’ different McDonald’s worldwide and has shared her take on some of them.

From Japan to New Caledonia and to France, Kelly Marshall is passionate about testing the popular fast food venue abroad.

In a recent TikTok video, @kellymarshall98 revealed some of her reviews and while some were described as ‘phenomenal’, not all of the meals were up to scratch.

Kelly rated the McDonald’s she enjoyed in Lautoka, Fiji an impressive nine out of 10.

She praised the ‘best nuggets and fries I’ve had in time’ and gushed over the size of the McFlurry.

‘Like a pints worth of McFlurrys with chocolate sauce added,’ she described.

However, despite the Coca-Cola not being ‘great’, Kelly shared that she ‘didn’t mind’.

Tokyo in Japan was another high scorer with a perfect 10 out of 10.

The McDonald’s connoisseur admitted she ‘honestly cannot fault’ the meal and described the chicken nuggets as ‘phenomenal’.

‘… I cannot tell you how much the coke hit the spot in a crowded Japan,’ Kelly added.

Meanwhile, Marne-la-Vallee in France only scored a disappointing three out of 10 from Kelly.

Though she liked the potato wedges, she went on, ‘they gave me a filet–fish instead of a hamburger, no straws for diet coke, very expensive’.

Another low scorer was the McDonald’s in Noumea, New Caledonia.

The sauce on Kelly’s McFlurry was ‘v good’ but she explained: ‘Ranked as one of the most expensive Maccy’s in the world, nuggets were grim, unable to connect to Wi-Fi to download vids for the ship’.

Melbourne, Australia, proved to be average and received six out of 10 from Kelly.

‘Gave me an extra nugget so that was nice and M&M McFlurry was buff,’ she penned.

However, she added that the ‘fries were cold’ and she claimed she saw a physical altercation during her meal.

Elsewhere, the McDonald’s in Valletta, Malta was much better and received seven out of 10 from Kelly.

‘Exactly what I needed when I hadn’t consumed anything all day, fries were phenomenal,’ she gushed.

However, she admitted she is ‘not really a fan of European nuggets as a whole’.

Sydney, Australia, was another impressive venue and was rated eight out of 10.

Kelly revealed that ‘every bite tasted phenomenal’ and ‘they call it Wi-Fry and you can choose what flavour soft serve you get’.

But, the traveller wasn’t keen on the communal seating layout in the restaurant.

Napier in New Zealand proved to be average and scored 6.5 out of 10.

The venue left Kelly impressed with the meal options, ‘You can have a large drink without having a large fries in a medium meal and I’ve wanted for a while’.

However, she wasn’t a fan of the red and yellow colour scheme as well as the sauce packets instead of pots.

Closer to home, Kelly gave Nottingham’s McDonald’s five out of 10 for its ‘pretty good’ nuggets and ‘phenomenal’ diet coke, but said the ‘chips felt overwhelming’.
