A MOTHER has revealed that she ditched life in the UK and moved to Las Vegas.
But Charlie got candid on the “crazy rules” she has to follow – from what type of dog she can have, to the colour of her home.
Posting on social media, the content creator explained what it’s really like to live in a HOA – a governing body that manages a neighbourhood.
In a short clip uploaded online, Charlie shared the “craziest rules” her Las Vegas HOA enforces.
First things first, the mother claimed that living in her HOA neighbourhood means there are restrictions in place when it comes to renovating properties.
She said: “You can’t paint your house any colour you want, you have to follow the neighbourhood paint guidelines, so everybody’s houses are a very similar colour.”

As well as this, there’s also limits on when you can put up Halloween and Christmas decorations.
Charlie added: “There’s timelines for when you can have your holiday decorations out, so because it’s not quite Halloween yet, nobody has them out until the date that you’re allowed to put them out.”
In addition to this, Charlie shared the rule she “loves,” as she acknowledged that parking on the road overnight is forbidden in Charlie’s neighbourhood.
“You are not allowed to park your car on the street overnight, which means there’s never any random cars left parked anywhere and it’s super easy to drive up and down the street,” she continued.
Not only this, but there’s even guidelines homeowners have to follow on pets too.
When living in Charlie’s HOA neighbourhood, she highlighted: “There are rules on the breed of dog you can have, the weight of the dog and how many dogs you’re allowed in your house, which I guess is kind of weird when it’s actually the house that you own.”
Similar to this, Charlie claimed that when it comes to pets, there are even rules on how long your dog is allowed to bark for when outside.
And if you thought that was it, think again, as there’s also guidelines that must be followed when it comes to bins too.

Charlie recognised that bin day is on a Friday and you are “only allowed” to put bins out late on a Thursday night.
As well as having to get bins in by Friday night, Charlie concluded: “You cannot have your bins outside of your property, they cannot be seen from the street – you have to either put them in your garage or you have to build a structure to put them in if you want to put them down the side of your house.”
What is a HOA?
A HOA is a homeowner’s association, which is an organisation that aims to structure a clean and cohesive place to live for residents.
They are often seen in entire neighbourhoods, subdivisions, condominiums, family homes, or townhouses within “a planned development”.
It acts as a governing body for tenants after being used for marketing, managing, and selling homes by real estate developers.
HOA’s are run and funded by residents to ensure the community can function together, remain visually appealing, and keep property values high.
They primarily focus on common areas of a neighbourhood, such as roads, parks, and pools, and provide locals with an HOA rule book to live by.
Known as covenants, conditions, and restrictions (CC&R), these regulations are enforced by an elected volunteer board of directors.
Restrictions include forbidding people to make physical changes to their homes without permission and strict rules for where you are permitted to park.
Penalties can be issued for breaching the rules – seeing fines being issued and even litigation in some severe cases – as most HOA’s are incorporated and subject to state law.
All members of an HOA must pay a monthly fee and occasionally chip in for larger community expenses, for officials to use the money to pay for maintenance, utilities, and other amenities.
According to Charlie, these rules make for a “really gorgeous neighbourhood to live in,” as she and all of her neighbours “follow the rules” so they don’t get fined, meaning the streets always look “neat and tidy.”
Big divide
Charlie’s TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @charlieinvegas, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 193,700 views, 4,337 likes and 919 comments in just 24 hours.
But social media users were totally divided by the strict rules – while some thought they sounded like “hell,” others described them as “sensible.”
One person said: “You couldn’t pay me to live in a HOA.”

Another added: “Sounds like a dictatorship.”
A third commented: “Ridiculous, they can dictate what dog you have?!?! AND you are PAYING THEM TO DICTATE THIS!!???”
Meanwhile, someone else penned: “My idea of hell.”
However, not everyone was as negative, as one user beamed: “Can’t deny that it keeps the area looking and feeling amazing.”
A second agreed: “The rules make sense, just look at how lovely the neighbourhood looks.”
Someone else gushed: “I love the dog rule! Wish that was everywhere. Literally sick of listening to neighbours never ending dog barking.”
Whilst one woman simply penned: “These all seem very sensible.”
