The listing for three-bedroom home has sparked disbelief among prospective buyers after they spotted an ‘unhygienic’ detail about the layout.
In the advertisement, the terraced property in Brislington, Bristol, which hit the market for £400,000, looks like a perfectly normal home.
However, a closer look at the interiors left people convinced the property was a health and safety violation because of a bizarre feature of the utility room.
Snaps of the property showed a kitchen-cum-bathroom setup, with a toilet plonked just inches away from a fridge-freezer, washing machine, and even a fully-functioning coffee machine.
Worryingly, despite food and drink being stored there, there is no partition separating the counters from the toilet area that has been labelled the ‘utility/downstairs WC’ in the listing.
The ad on Moving You reads: ‘This well-presented, extended 1930s three-bedroom terraced home offers a perfect blend of period character and modern living, complete with a garage, a kitchen extension, and a private enclosed rear garden.
‘Step through the entrance porch into a welcoming hallway with useful under-stairs storage.
‘A cosy lounge, convenient utility/ downstairs cloakroom, dining area and extended kitchen with fitted units, modern fitted appliances and double glazed windows opening onto the garden.

‘Upstairs you’ll find two spacious double bedrooms, including the master with another bay-fronted window, and a third bedroom ideal as a nursery, home office, or guest room.’
The advertisement was later shared on Reddit, with several social media users ridiculing the house’s unusual design.
One person wrote: ‘I get that’s a utility room but… Imagine having your fridge in a windowless room where someone just had a rough time on the throne. Or your washing. Either settle for one toilet or put a small cubicle in.’
Another added: ‘That’s got to be breaking some health and safety regulations surely?’
Someone else said: ‘Oh that’s grim, and right next to a kettle and stuff. Imagine how many airborne poop particles are in that fridge and cooking area.’
‘I don’t hate the idea of a lootility if it’s just the laundry toilet combo,’ one person admitted, adding: ‘The sink would come in handy to pre wash the unmentionables when the monthly monster strikes. However I draw the line at keeping literally food and a fridge in there.’
Another Reddit user said they were ‘flabbergasted’ by the design of the property, adding: ‘They could have put the fridge in the dining room.’
Poking fun at the UK’s rental market, one person quipped: ‘Throw an air fryer and a fold-out bed in that room to make it self contained accommodation.’

While much of the house looks warm, tidy and perfectly presented, it’s what’s lurking in the utility room that has left people utterly stunned

It comes after another seemingly average-looking property – with a very unexpected detail – in Newcastle caused a stir online.
At first glance, the semi-detached house, which was originally on the market for £125,000, appeared to be just an ordinary two-bedroom home in the British city.
However, further photographs included in the property’s listing showed that all wasn’t as it seems, as noted by TikTok page Housing Horrors today.
‘The people online are calling the owner of this house the “Astroturf Final Boss”‘, revealed the content creator.
Discussing the images of the home that were made available online whilst it was being sold, the TikToker said: ‘So this is where it gets interesting, because as you can see, they’ve got astroturf in the back garden.
‘They’ve also got a little bit on the step towards the door. But wait until you see the inside…
‘Because they’ve got astroturf in the dining room, in the conservatory. I’ll tell you what people, I understand why people are calling them the “Astroturf Final Boss”, because they’ve even got it on the walls there.
‘Now, maybe B&Q had a discount on astroturf. They were like, “You know what? Let’s just bang it down on the floor instead of carpet.’
The content creator continued: ‘Now this is very unusual and very intriguing. I have never seen astroturf inside a house before.
‘They’ve got all outside here on the decking. Now, I reckon what’s happened is they’ve bought the astroturf. They bought too much, but they didn’t want to, you know, just waste it, but they thought, “You know what, let’s just put it inside”.
‘Now, actually look at it from a distance. It actually just looked like green carpet. But then when you zoom in, you can clearly see the kind of bristles from the actual fake grass kind of seeping through.
‘But I’ll tell you what you know, if they like it, they can have it. They can do what they want.
‘I imagine, if you purchase this property, this would probably be one of the first things you would rip out.’
‘I’m actually surprised that we haven’t got astroturf in the front garden. Maybe they actually opted for the real grass,’ concluded the TikToker.
