CHERYL has secretly reunited with her long-time pal and a music superstar in Italy.
The Girls Aloud singer, 42, has been spending time with Will.I.Am in Rome amid rumours she is set to make her TV comeback as his advisor on the next series of ITV‘s The Voice UK.
The Call My Name hitmaker was spotted enjoying a low-key dinner with the Black Eyed Peas frontman at a top Italian restaurant in the heart of Rome last week.
It is the first time that the pals have been spotted together in years with Cheryl and Will having been a regular at each other’s sides between 2008 and 2018.
A source told The Sun: “There’s no denying that the past 12 months have been incredibly challenging for Cheryl.
“She’s a strong and resilient woman and she’s finally starting to feel like herself again following Liam’s passing.
“Catching up with Will in Rome was just what she needed as she dips her toes back into the showbiz world.
“Before any work comes their friendship and so it was great for the pair to have some time to reconnect on a trip away.”
Owners of the reasturant were understood to be left surprised when the pair dined in the posh eatery,
Will.I.Am even recorded a personal video message for the owner of the reasturant’s wife to encourage her in her budding music career.
News of Cheryl and Will’s secret dinner comes after The Sun told how he was planning a return to screens for the star on the next series of The Voice UK.
It would mark her first solo television appearance since being a judge on the BBC‘s The Greatest Dancer in 2020.
Cheryl is understood to be joining Will for the Battle Rounds of the contest with the new series set to hit screens in early 2026.
ITV bosses hope to convince Cheryl, 42, to sign up to the show permanently if her stint proves a hit.
Cheryl has taken a lot of time out of the spotlight since 2020.
The Fight For This Love hitmaker opted to lead a private life following almost 20 years at the forefront of showbiz as she foucused on motherhood and dealing with the painful death of her bandmate Sarah Harding in private.
Last year, she reunited with her Girls Aloud bandmates for a huge reunion tour to honour Sarah.
It went on to become the UK’s biggest arena tour of the 2020s decade.
However, Cheryl was left devastated when One Direction star and father to her eight-year-old son, Liam, 31, fell from his hotel balcony in Argentina in October.
His death saw Cheryl retreat from public view once more.
In a huge move, Cheryl has slowly been making a return to work with insiders revealing she is keen to show her young son how important it is to continue on following their grief.
Last month, she made her debut at the new fave of Nivea skincare in a mammoth seven-figure endorsement deal – her first solo brand partnership in over five years.
Cheryl is the face of the Epigenetics Age Rewind Serum for the brand – a new skincare formula designed to reverse signs of ageing in just two weeks.
Cheryl’s TV Comeback
Cheryl is in advanced talks to be a mentor on The Voice.
The former Girls Aloud singer is being lined up for the 14th series, reuniting with long-time pal will.i.am.
The rapper and producer rallied round Cheryl following the death last year of Liam Payne, father to her son Bear.
A TV insider told The Sun: “Will.i.am and Cheryl first worked together 16 years ago and have remained good friends ever since.
“She was the obvious choice to mentor his team when the Battle Rounds return four years after being axed.
“A lot has happened in Cheryl’s personal life since she was last working on a talent show — BBC’s The Greatest Dancer — so she’s taking baby steps to put herself back out there.
“Teaming up with will.i.am as a guest mentor seems the perfect way to kick-start her comeback.”
