Rebecca vanished a week ago after leaving her home in Hassocks, sparking a massive search operation.

Her children raised the alarm after returning to the house to discover their mother had disappeared.

The search for Rebecca lasted a week and saw a helicopter, drone and police dogs deployed to find the missing mother.

Nearby fields and woodlands were combed for any sign of Rebecca.

She was believed to have left Ockley Park estate on foot at around 10am.

Officers said she had links to Burgess Hill, Horsham, Worthing, Devon and Dorset.

Her disappearance was described as “completely out of character” for the mum-of-two.

Sadly, a short walk from where the 38-year-old mum was last seen, a farmer discovered a woman’s body.

Police have now put up a tent in the field and have informed Rebecca’s family who are being supported by specialist officers.

Formal identification of the body is yet to take place with cops continuing their inquiries.

Sussex Police said enquiries are “ongoing to confirm the woman’s identity.”

Locals helped to spread “missing person” posters during the frantic search for the missing mother.

The posters described Rebecca as slim with shoulder length brown hair and a tattoo on her ankle.

Her desperate friends and family called for a “large search group” to be put together to locate the 38-year-old.

Det Insp Chris May, of the West Sussex Missing Persons Team, said at the time of Becky’s disappearance that concerns were growing over her welfare.

She continued: “We are urging anyone who has seen or heard from her since Sunday morning to get in touch.

“Extensive enquiries are being completed including searches, house-to-house visits, and checks of CCTV and doorbell cameras in the area.

“Residents will see an increased police presence in the area while this is ongoing.

“We continue to ask the public to be vigilant and to report any possible sightings or pieces of information they believe may be relevant in helping us find Rebecca.”
