WHEN Brits go to Croatia, they mainly visit Split or Dubrovnik – but a lesser-visited small town has been named one of Europe’s cheapest.
On easyJet‘s Cheap Beach Index, the town of Nin got a score of 50.1 thanks to its cheap food and drink and flights from £15.
Nin is best described as a historic town, but it holds the title of Croatia’s oldest royal ‘city’ – despite only having 3,000 residents.
Now, it’s known to be affordable, with an incredible coastline.
A local beer is as little as £3.20, you can get an ice cream for £1.80, and a stay in a three star hotel costs on average £60 per night.
A family meal is priced at £30, and that’s also the price for a three course dinner.

In its history, the town dates back over 3,000 years and began with the Liburni tribe.
The town has one of the most beautiful beaches called Queen’s Beach which is long and shallow, incredibly sandy and ideal for families.
Queen’s Beach is also the longest in Croatia at around 3,000 metres.
The beach is popular for mud baths on the western side of the lagoon which is said to be mineral-rich and have health benefits.
Visitors will apply it to their body before sunbathing and then rinsing it off in the sea.
Nin also has what’s considered to be the smallest cathedral in the world, called Church of the Holy Cross.
Nin is pretty easy to get to from the UK, visitors will need to fly to Zadar (ZAD).
In September, you can get direct one-way flights from London Stansted for as little as £15 with Ryanair.
Or fly directly from London Gatwick with easyJet from £29.
From Zadar, Nin is a 20-minute drive up the coast, or a 30-minute bus ride.
At the very top for cheapest beach breaks is the Bulgarian city of Nessebar.
The city is known as the ‘Pearl of the Black Sea’, it has charming cobbled streets and lots of interesting history.
Here’s another of Croatia’s largest islands has hilltop towns, sandy beaches and its own airport with direct UK flights.
