CORRIE fans worldwide have been left gutted after an actor was forced to pull out of a Coronation Street live tour.
The soap star was due to appear at An Audience with Coronation Street tour in Glasgow but has disappointed fans – from the UK to Australia to the Netherlands – with the unwelcome news.
TV star Vicky Myers shared an emotional post on social media and wrote in a heartfelt statement.
The Lisa Swain star penned: “I’m so, so, sorry to miss the Glasgow show for An Audience with Coronation Street on 24th September.
“Due to unavoidable last-minute schedule changes, I won’t be able to be there.
“Every possible scheduling option was explored, however it was just not possible I’m afraid. This was completely out of my control.
“In my place I am delighted that the legend and utterly gorgeous ‘Sunshine Sue Devaney’ will be joining the line-up instead – she is going to be amazing – she IS amazing!
“I know it’ll be an incredible evening celebrating 65 years of Corrie magic. I’ll be there in spirit. Sorry, Vicky.”
The official Coronation Street statement read: “As we head towards the exciting An Audience With Coronation Street tour, we are sharing the news that due to unavoidable and complicated change in her filming schedule, Vicky is no longer able to join the Glasgow show on September 24th.
“Sue Devaney will now step on stage in the place. Vicky is very sad that she’s unable to be there.
“Please note it’s important to understand that she had no prior knowledge or influence on her schedule.”
Hosted by This Morning’s resident soap expert Sharon Marshall, the TV guru penned: “We love you Vicky. And thank you, thank you, thank you Sunshine Sue.”
“I’m so sad. It is gutting! You were definitely the reason to come to Glasgow from the Netherlands! I do realise this is not your choice, though! We’re gonna miss you!” stated a fan.
“I feel your pain! I have come over from Australia and factored a lot of our travel plans around getting up to Glasgow on that date. Disappointed, but it can’t be helped. I love Corrie, but Vicky was the real drawcard. I’m sure it will still be a great night!” wrote a fan from Down Under.
“Oh no, I understand but I’m absolutely gutted, especially after I upgraded to a VIP ticket the other day,” penned a third.
“Aww I’m so sad. You were the reason I got tickets. But I absolutely understand and it’s not your fault. Hopefully see you one day,” wrote a fourth deflated fan.
Others commented: “Testament to the person you are that this has affected you so deeply.”
The actor first joined the long-running ITV soap as part of the gruesome acid attack storyline.
DS Swain (Myers) was on hand in the aftermath to investigate the incident in May 2021.
Coronation Street bosses then made her a full-time character and a mainstay on the soap.
Her stint as DS Lisa is the fourth character she has played on the serial drama, but it’s her first as a main character.
Back in 2016, she landed a role in the Harlan Coben helmed series The Five.
This was followed by roles on Ackley Bridge on Channel 4 and The Long Shadow alongside the likes of David Morrissey and Toby Jones.
