Sky Sports forced to apologise twice during live BMW PGA Championship coverage after golf star’s unsavoury antics

SKY SPORTS twice had to apologise for Rob MacIntyre’s foul language during the second round of the BMW PGA Championship.

MacIntyre, 29, was left furious as he struggled to keep up with the pack at Wentworth on Friday.

The Scot was clearly frustrated with his efforts on Hole 12 of the West Course as he launched two X-rated rants at himself after costly errors.

The first of which came on the fairway of the Par 5, as MacIntyre lined up 218yds away from the pin after a spectacular drive into the centre of the short stuff.

Unfortunately for the World No. 9, he squandered a superb opportunity to hit the green and set up an eagle putt, instead mishitting his iron and seeing it fly into a greenside bunker.

After the infuriating mistake, MacIntyre could be heard saying: “What a waste. You cannot f*****g hit it”.

His outburst prompted a swift apology from commentator Alison Whitaker, who said: “Apologies for the language, it’s not a great spot to be fair”.

MacIntyre impressively managed to set himself up for a birdie putt after a great bunker save.

However, he squandered that opportunity too – stopping his putt just eight inches short of the cup.

Once again, MacIntyre released his frustrations on the course – dropping another f-bomb in a mostly inaudible release.

This time David Howell extended an apology to the viewers at home, saying: “Apologies for the adult language from MacIntyre, forgetting that there are microphones around once again.”

MacIntyre still managed to escape with a par and ultimately ended the round one-under par and two-under for the tournament.

That leaves the two-time PGA Tour event winner anxiously waiting to see if he will make the cut for the weekend’s action, with the cut line currently projected at two-under.

MacIntyre will be hoping to get back on track and keep some momentum ahead of this month’s Ryder Cup.

The Brit is one of the six automatic qualifiers for Team Europe at Bethpage Black in two weeks time.

Despite not winning any events this year, MacIntyre has been one of Europe’s strongest players, making six top 10s, 11 top 25s and finishing runner-up at the US Open.
