My dad was murdered outside our home in broad daylight & his killer is walking free – cops aren’t doing ANYTHING

A TEENAGER has slammed cops for “doing nothing” while his father’s killer continues to walk free.

Horrified residents watched on as Oliver Payne, 38, was brutally murdered in broad daylight outside his home in Norwich, Norfolk, last year.

Oliver was fatally stabbed on a residential street on August 2, before his killer quickly fled the scene.

A post-mortem found the 38-year-old died after suffering a single stab wound to the chest.

Despite cops reportedly knowing the identity of the suspect, the murderer has managed to evade justice.

A month after the killing, a man was interviewed by detectives on suspicion of assisting an offender.

But no updates on the case have been issued since his arrest.

Now, Oliver’s teenage son, Ollie, has accused Norfolk Police of not taking his father’s case seriously.

The 18-year-old told the Eastern Daily Press: “I don’t think [the police] have actually been serious about it.

“I think the police need to hurry up and catch the killer. They talk about it, but they don’t do stuff about it.

“It is like they have stopped looking. It doesn’t make sense.

“It is not nice knowing there is still a killer walking about out there.

“Why is he walking about and my dad is not?”

Since Oliver’s death on August 2, more than 35 witnesses have been interviewed, according to cops.

Most notably, a man in his 20s was questioned at a London police station in connection with the murder last September.

Norfolk Police insist they are pursuing several lines of enquiries, but Oliver’s killer continues to prowl the streets.

Ollie, from Tunbridge Wells, Kent, has called on anyone with information on his dad’s brutal murder to come forward.

Describing memories of his late father, the teen added: “Everyone who knew my mum and dad said me and him were alike.

“He loved gardening, and I now work as a gardener.

“My best memory was when he brought a rabbit back in a box for my sixth birthday. It jumped out and he chased it around the house.

“I remember when he taught me to swim in Spain when I was about five. He had gold medals in swimming and gymnastics.

“I am going to scatter his ashes and get a memorial, so he is laid to rest.

“I am going to pay for it myself.”

Ollie said it had been a “long year” for the family, who are struggling to find peace and are desperate for closure.

Norfolk Police confirmed the case remained an active and ongoing investigation.

Detective Inspector Sam Pontin said: “We continue to progress our case into the death of Oliver Payne.

“We cannot imagine the pain that his family must be going through and would like to reiterate we are doing everything we possibly can to achieve justice for Oliver.

“Our present lines of enquiry indicate that the suspect, who is believed to be known to the victim, is out of the county.

“To date, we have completed considerable CCTV enquiries, scene searches, over 35 witness interviews and extensive house visits.

“We routinely review the level of operational detail disclosed to balance the need to preserve the integrity of the investigation.

“We understand how concerning incidents like this can be for the local community and maintaining their safety remains our priority.”
