THE 2027 Champions League final will return to the site of Liverpool’s historic 2019 triumph.
Atletico Madrid’s Estadio Metropolitano will play host to the European finale showpiece on June 5, 2027.
It is the ground where, six years ago, Jurgen Klopp led the Reds to their sixth major Euro title with a 2-0 victory over Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham.
And the final for the 2026/27 campaign is now returning to the home of Atletico – following on from this year’s final at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary.
Uefa announced Madrid as the venue today despite it having originally been slated for the San Siro in Milan.
They ruled out the iconic Italian stadium last year despite giving the city of Milan extra time to comply with hosting requirements.
It will be the sixth time the Spanish capital has hosted a Champions League final with only London’s Wembley hosting it more with eight.
The most recent London final was in 2024 where Jude Bellingham’s Real Madrid saw off Borussia Dortmund 2-0.
A record number of six English teams will be in contention to try and reach Budapest this campaign with Liverpool joined by Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Newcastle and Tottenham.
Elsewhere, the 2027 Women’s Champions League final will be hosted by Warsaw’s National Stadium in Poland, while the 2026 Super Cup will take place in Salzburg, Austria.
