Annunciation Shooter’s ‘Girlfriend’ Was a Furry – HotAir

Are you as unsurprised as I am that the Annunciation School shooter had a years-long relationship with another body-dysmorphia sufferer?

I’m not. It turns out that Robin Westman’s “girlfriend” identified as a cat.

I hesitate to write this because I feel bad for her, to be honest. No doubt she was troubled before; now she will have this hanging over her head as well. Clearly, if she has been so deluded as to believe she was a different species, or so unhappy with her life as a human that she pretended to be, she will not benefit from being harassed by a mob.

I wish her no ill and hope she finds peace.

What I do wish, though, is that the adults who coddled her in her beliefs and refused to help her and Robin confront their mental illness face a reckoning. Reportedly, Robin’s mother tried to fight his belief and get him help, but the social pressure to affirm his delusions was so great that she gave in.

“Would you rather have a dead son or a live daughter?” What a farce. She has neither now, and other parents and children are suffering because too many in our society are unwilling to treat mental illness for what it is. By affirming delusions, we are making children sicker and angrier.

Westman, it turns out, grew to hate his girlfriend and fantasized about killing her

Deranged transgender Minnesota shooter Robin Westman had recently dumped his longtime girlfriend, raging about her “blue hair and pronouns” — and complaining about not being able to murder her because it “would really f–k up” his plans to massacre kids.

The 23-year-old maniac, who slaughtered two children and injured 18 other people at a Minneapolis Catholic school, had only recently called it quits with his partner of several years before last week’s bloodshed, his dad previously revealed.

Can you imagine what reading things like this must be like for her?

Two profoundly unhappy people sank into delusions, and as always happens, the delusions made them even less happy. A healthy society would have found them help; ours applauded their self-destruction.

His former girlfriend is now 22, and must be hurting even more now that Robin has blamed her in his writings for his anger. As with his rage at the schoolchildren, the target is all wrong.

It is the adults–people entrusted with their care before they reach maturity–who are most to blame. They clapped like seals at the performances given, as if they were stunning and brave instead of cries for help.

The Post named the poor girl, but I won’t. She has clearly suffered more than she deserves. Pray for her. I will be.
