All I can say after watching the clip below is … Bari Weiss will have her work cut out for her.
Duane played this for me during our upcoming Week in Review taping this morning, and Twitchy had it early today as well. Watch it for yourself and ask this question: Can the bias issue at CBS News get fixed at all, even by Weiss?
Spot the difference between Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s interview with CBS’s Norah O’Donnell and Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s interview with Norah O’Donnell.

Now, when I first saw this, I wondered whether this was a fair comparison. It almost seemed that the Jackson interview had the tone of an introductory piece, perhaps conducted immediately after her initial nomination by Joe Biden to the Supreme Court in February 2022. However, the KBJ interview actually took place exactly one year ago today, more than two years after her confirmation to the court.
And what else was going on a year ago today? The presidential election, of course. It appears clear from the interview at that time that CBS News wanted to paint KBJ in glowing terms as a way to highlight the Biden-Kamala Harris administration. O’Donnell is all smiles, softballs, and small talk with KBJ.
Contrast that to her approach to Amy Coney Barrett. In that interview, O’Donnell dispenses with warmth and smiles, asks hard questions, and tries to put Barrett on the spot. In isolation, that’s exactly what one would expect from a news interview; the questions highlighted here are not unfair or particularly contentious, especially for a SCOTUS justice publishing a memoir. And Barrett did just fine under a more rigorous interview, in any case.
However, O’Donnell apparently reserves that approach for conservative justices. Why? Bias is the obvious answer, but it may not be the only answer. Matt Whitlock remarked on how infantilizing and condescending O’Donnell looks and speaks when asking softball questions to Jackson, a sitting Supreme Court justice:
After watching this a dozen times..
YES it’s wild that Norah O’Donnell treats Justice Barrett like a terrorist.
But … she also talks to Justice Jackson like a 4-year-old special needs child. https://t.co/fGbWxEZNWB

“Terrorist” is a rhetorical exaggeration for effect, of course. It is fair to say that O’Donnell took an adversarial tone with Barrett, however, while providing a virtual tongue bath to Jackson. Did O’Donnell just like Jackson more, or did she think Jackson couldn’t handle tough questions? Or was she just determined to help Kamala Harris indirectly in the heat of a presidential campaign by fluffing Jackson?
I suspect the answer is: Yes.
Anyway, best of luck to Bari Weiss and David Ellison if they combine forces to restore any credibility to CBS News. They may have to destroy the village in order to save it.
Editor’s Note: The mainstream media continues to deflect, gaslight, spin, and lie about President Trump, his administration, and conservatives.
