Four gang members were filmed using a chainsaw to break into a Sainsbury’s where they carried out a £2million burglary spree – and now been jailed for 19 years.
The organised crime network, described by police as ‘highly professional’ and ‘brazen,’ targeted convenience stores, jewellers and electronics shops, smashing through shutters and windows in lightning-fast raids that often took place in full view of horrified members of the public.
Shocking CCTV shows the masked men cutting through metal shutters, storming inside a Sainsbury’s and ripping valuable stock from counters before fleeing in stolen high-powered cars.
In one chilling detail, police revealed the crooks even stashed their hauls in a churchyard.
The network have been linked to more than 100 offences across London and Hertfordshire – but officers believe the true number could be far higher.
After months of painstaking surveillance, forensic work and trawling through hundreds of hours of CCTV, detectives from the Met’s Flying Squad swooped – finally bringing the gang to justice.
At Kingston Crown Court, the four men were handed lengthy sentences.
Lewis Northover, 31, of Brent, and Scott Logan, 36, of Islington, were jailed for six years and nine months and given a Serious Crime Prevention Order.

Sean Bennett, 38, of Hatfield, was jailed for four years and ten months, after £80,000 of stolen silverware was found at his home. He also faces a £2,550 cash seizure.
And Sachon Morgan, 33, of Cricklewood, has been jailed for two years and seven months.
Detective Chief Inspector Scott Mather, of the Met’s Flying Squad, who led the investigation, said: ‘Northover, Logan, Bennett and Morgan were part of an organised criminal network who horrified shopkeepers and communities with a series of raids.
‘They thought that acting quickly and escaping in high-powered vehicles meant that they were above the law. They were wrong.
‘Officers tracked them down through diligent forensic work, digging through CCTV and carrying out surveillance.
‘Their hard work shows how the force is taking the fight to criminal gangs and committed to supporting the local communities they intimidate and threaten.’
The gang’s crime spree spanned several years. Between January 2020 and September 2022, Northover, Logan and Bennett carried out around 100 burglaries, stealing cigarettes, jewellery and silverware worth over £1million.
Between 8 April 2024 and 9 January 2025 Northover, Logan and Morgan targeted more than 35 convenience stores, electronics shops and a department store and on several occasions travelling to South London targeting jewellery stores.
Stolen property was often stored in the grounds of a church.
Detectives placed the suspects under surveillance and followed the stolen vehicles – an Audi RS6 and VW T-Roc – to a barn near Waltham Abbey.
But their luck finally ran out in January this year when the Flying Squad ambushed them as they returned from a raid on an electronics shop in North West London.

Officers caught Logan and Morgan red-handed with stolen goods, an angle grinder, and high-powered electric bikes. Northover was arrested weeks later.
When Bennett was arrested separately, police found the £80,000 silver stash hidden at his home in Hatfield.
Northover, Logan and Morgan entered guilty pleas before the trail, while Sean Bennett entered a guilty plea on the first day at Kingston Crown Court on Wednesday, June 23, 2025.
Police said the case highlighted their determination to ‘take the fight to criminal gangs’ – with figures showing a 16 per cent drop in business robberies reported across London in recent weeks.
