The former Big Brother star’s estate was signed off by the High Court last week just 25 days after his death on August 4.

Records obtained by The Sun show he left an estate worth £715,000.

It was reduced by £198,500 after taxes, fees and debts to £517,500.

He passed £75,000 tax-free to children James and Peter from his first marriage to Melinda Maxted.

In the will, signed in April last year, Whale also requested to be buried.

Whale was first diagnosed with cancer back in 2000 and had to have one of his kidneys removed.

He later set up the Kidney Cancer UK charity to raise funds for those affected by the disease.

The radio legend was diagnosed with stage-four kidney cancer in 2020, and spoke openly about the final stages of his terminal battle.

A year later, James announced his engagement to Nadine Lamont-Brown on his 70th birthday.

Then, in 2020, the Talk host revealed that the cancer had returned in his kidney, spine, brain and lungs.

The legendary broadcaster, whose radio career spanned six decades, said the night before he died that he was “happy to go now” after moving into a hospice.

The James Whale radio show became a cultural phenomenon in the late 1980s, broadcasting every weekend on ITV.

He went on to become a household name, hosting programmes across ITV, Sky and the BBC, before moving to talkRADIO in 2016.

In the same year, he appeared on Celebrity Big Brother.

Talk’s Mike Graham led tributes after the star’s death, telling listeners: “James Whale broke the rules, he shaped the airwaves, and did it all on his own terms.

“For millions, James wasn’t just a broadcaster. He was a companion, a provocateur, and a good friend that we’ll all never forget. God bless you, James. We’ll miss you.”

Talk host Jeremy Kyle hailed James as a “fearless legend”.
