RUBEN AMORIM kept it short as he demanded Manchester United “do better” following their Grimsby nightmare.
The Red Devils were dumped out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday in one of football’s biggest giant-killings and one of the worst United performances in an already-torrid post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.
Now Amorim has apologised to fans for being KO’d by the League Two minnows in a short statement in the Burnley match-day programme.
Amorim wrote: “Good afternoon and welcome back to Old Trafford.
“Today, as we welcome Scott Parker and his Burnley side, we need to give a response after Wednesday night’s cup fixture.
“I can only say to you supporters that I am sorry.
“The better team on the night won the game and we got what we deserved.”
Amorim continued: “Everybody has to do better.
“Today, we have to show intensity from the start.
“We need to go out onto the pitch and show we are capable of playing, because the only way we fix this is by winning games.”
