BARGAIN hunters are flocking to Asda after spotting Christmas homeware selling for as little as £1.50.
One savvy shopper took to Facebook to post pictures of reduced Nightmare Before Christmas items at the supermarket’s Great Yarmouth branch, with “plenty left this morning”.
Snaps showed mugs and plates for £1.50 each, featuring designs of the Disney spooky-yet-festive film.
These are usually £5-6 each.
Meanwhile a single Christmas themed plate would set you back £8 at John Lewis.
Full 12-piece dinner sets were going for just £17.50, which is half the usual £35 price tag.
The porcelain set includes four bowls, four side plates and four dinner plates, making it ideal for a festive family feast.
The best deals appear to be in stores, as we spotted the dinner set going for £25 – £35 more.
Shoppers rushed to the comments to rave about the deal, with one writing: “These are lovely,” while another added: “Picked me up some.”
A third said: “I’m going on a hunt for these,” as others declared: “Need these.”
It’s worth noting not every store will have the same reductions.
Experts warn stock and prices vary depending on your local Asda, so if you fancy grabbing a bargain it’s best to keep your eyes peeled in your nearest branch.

With festive stock flying off shelves as early as August, shoppers keen to kit out their Christmas table in style might want to get down to Asda before it’s all gone.
It comes after savvy shoppers bagged bargains for as little as 16p in Asda’s mega summer sale.
One eagle-eyed bargain hunter shared her jaw-dropping find on Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK.
She posted: “Bargain of the day was the 34p BBQ instead of £39 like priced.”
The grill is listed on Asda’s website for £39 but currently shows as out of stock, meaning you might only be able to find these bargains in stores.
Alongside the barbecue, she filled her trolley with garden and summer must-haves at rock-bottom prices.
The haul included lawn moss killer treatment for 98p, GroSure lawn seeds for 10p, Evergreen Complete 4in1 for £1.43, a grill topper for 68p and solar garden lights for only 23p.
She also landed some massive savings on kids toys, purchasing a bubble toy gun for 38p, colourful cutlery for just 16p, a paddling pool for 48p, a water bottle for 16p and a Minecraft Lego set for £2.25,
The discounts are part of Asda’s huge end-of-summer clear-out, with prices being slashed across outdoor toys, camping gear and garden essentials.
One shopper in Nottingham bagged a Disney-themed paddling pool for just £3.60, reduced from £14.47, while another picked up a sand and water table for £2.48 – a fraction of its original price.
Christmas comes early
Asda isn’t the only retailer flogging Christmas homeware.
Dunelm has already launched a full Christmas range, including a £12 festive rug.
Meanwhile, The Range has festive decorations starting at £2, whilst Home Bargains is also offering some cracking Christmas deals, including mini hot chocolate filled mugs for just £2.99.
If you’re more of an online shopper, then the Online Home Shop is flooded with Christmas homeware bargains.
The retailer says more than 5,000 customers have already started ticking off festive wishlists, with ‘Christmas’ now the fourth most searched term on its site, up 350% on last year.
From Santa cushions to gingerbread duvet sets and bargain pyjamas, shoppers are piling virtual baskets high in a bid to spread both the cost and the cheer, over the next few months.
Ashley Furness, the brand’s Head of Buying, explained: “This year, shoppers are planning ahead more than ever, driven by deal-hunting and avoiding last-minute stress.
“Our Christmas range has been flying off the virtual shelves in July and August and customers will need to be quick off the mark to avoid disappointment.”
How to save money on Christmas shopping
Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how you can save money on your Christmas shopping.
Limit the amount of presents – buying presents for all your family and friends can cost a bomb.
Instead, why not organise a Secret Santa between your inner circles so you’re not having to buy multiple presents.
Plan ahead – if you’ve got the stamina and budget, it’s worth buying your Christmas presents for the following year in the January sales.
Make sure you shop around for the best deals by using price comparison sites so you’re not forking out more than you should though.
Buy in Boxing Day sales – some retailers start their main Christmas sales early so you can actually snap up a bargain before December 25.
Delivery may cost you a bit more, but it can be worth it if the savings are decent.
Shop via outlet stores – you can save loads of money shopping via outlet stores like Amazon Warehouse or Office Offcuts.
They work by selling returned or slightly damaged products at a discounted rate, but usually any wear and tear is minor.
