A female solo traveller has opened up about her experience visiting Japan and her first impressions of the country.
Millie Mclay, under her username @milliemclay, regularly shares her adventures around the world on TikTok to her 1.3million followers.
The travel influencer revealed her ‘honest’ take on Japan in a recent video, which shows her walking down the street in the popular destination.
Detailing the various things she has noticed about the country, Millie explained how people aren’t allowed to consume food and drinks on the go.
‘You’re not allowed to eat or drink, and walk,’ she said.
‘So in the UK it’s quite normal to go and buy a sandwich and then eat that on your way to work.’
Instead, individuals eat stood still nearby the shop they purchased from, and ‘then walk’.
Another point that baffled Millie was the lack of public bins in the country.

Instead of being able to put any litter easily into a bin like in the UK, people in Japan take it with them.
‘There’s no bins anywhere, if you have a piece of rubbish you will literally just have to carry that piece of rubbish,’ she continued.
Millie also went on to comment on the warm climate, describing it as ‘actually insane’.
The traveller said: ‘Summer is hot. I’m currently in Japan in August and the heat today was literally about 40 degrees Celsius which is actually insane.’
As for clothing, Millie revealed ‘everyone dresses really modestly’ despite the hot weather.
She also described what public transport is like in Japan, as she has been using the train to get around.
But there was one thing Millie noticed about other passengers.
While on board, no one seemed to speak.

Millie explained: ‘The last thing I’ve noticed is that everybody is silent on the trains, the public transport here is really good and that’s pretty much how we’ve got around.
‘Nobody speaks on these trains and nobody eats on the trains either.’
Despite the unexpected silence on the trains, Millie noted that they did have air con which she appreciated.
‘It’s a little bit different to London during summer but on a positive note, they are all air conditioned, so I would say Japan is winning in that respect.’
