ASDA has made a staggering change to its own-brand caterpillar cakes.
The retailer has slashed the cost of its chocolate puds just days after shoppers revealed their outrage over the price of Marks and Spencer’s new frozen Colin.

Asda‘s Letty and Charlie cakes are currently scanning for just £6.97 – down from £8.48 – offering customers a whopping 20 per cent saving.
Rivalling other Colin knock offs, the latest price is cheaper than versions in Tesco, Morrisons, and even Aldi.
Available to buy in-story and online, the chocolate sponge cake, with a smooth butter cream filling, serves 12 and promises to be a “perfect” party sharer.
Once customer hailed it “very moreish”, while another celebrated the “brilliant caterpillar cake” for its “good quality and price”.
Another delighted shopper wrote: “Very moreish. VERY chocolatey. Was a big hit in our household”.
While a third added: “Tastes as good as it looks”.
It comes as shoppers criticised M&S for the price of its £16 Colin the Caterpillar ice cream cake.
One shopper fumed: “£16 are you sh****** me?!”, while another called the price “eye-watering”.
Arctic Colin was unveiled to mark the cake’s 35th birthday.
Following its launch, The Sun was dispatched to Marks & Spencer HQ to meet the chap himself.
Laura Bradley, M&S “product developer for frozen”, told Clemmie Moody: “Arctic Colin has been two years in the making, and numerous non- disclosure agreements have been signed.
“A lot of love and care has gone into his formation, and we’re all really proud of what we’ve produced.
“He has been shrouded in secrecy. We haven’t even been able to tell our friends or families about it, let alone let them try samples.”
Fourteen variations of Arctic Colin were tested before the finished product was agreed on.
Such is Colin’s popularity around the world, American superstar Olivia Rodrigo has posted a TikTok video of her biting adoringly into him, and only last week Hollywood actor Austin Butler had a nibble, describing it as an “attractive cake”.
Colin has more than 75,000 followers on Instagram, and his pink-theme girlfriend, Connie — who was introduced to fans in 2016 — has been papped with feminist singer Taylor Swift on one of her trips to the UK.
Marks and Spencer has been approached for comment.
