TWO major UK motorways have been closed after serious collisions involving four vehicles and a fire.
Cops are in attendance at the M25, London and the M11, Cambridgeshire this morning following two crashes.
A multi vehicle collision on the M25 saw emergency services including the London Fire Brigade race to the scene.
The multi vehicle crash on the M25 has halted traffic on the road with vehicles stuck in the closure being released past the chaotic scene.
Drivers were stopped as emergency crews dealt with a vehicle fire in the wake of the crash.
On the M11, traffic was halted after a collision with police racing to the scene, drivers are being diverted around the collision.
The M25 is closed between J25 Waltham Cross Interchange (Enfield, Hertford A10) and J24 Potters Bar Interchange (Potters Bar, A111).
Traffic has been halted on the M11 between Junction 11 and Junction 12 with National Highways warning drivers to expect 90 minute delays.
Drivers have been warned to expect delays and plan their trips accordingly.
Cambridgeshire Constabulary said: “Police are currently at the scene of a serious collision on the M11 at J11.
“The road has been closed in both directions to allow emergency services to deal with the incident and motorists are advised to avoid the area.”
National Highways said: “If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time.
“Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.”
