Disney fans ‘terrified’ after seeing what characters looked like at the theme park in the ’50s

Disney fans are in shock after a photo revealed what characters looked like at the theme park in the 1950’s – and they simply can’t believe it.

The photo, which was posted to X this week by user @aleacabri, showed what character dining looked like all those years ago.

The picture featured someone wearing a Mickey Mouse costume, which involved an extremely large character head similar to the one we know and love today.

However, the character’s body didn’t exactly match the size of the head, as the person underneath just wore normal clothes rather than a costume over the body like they do now.

That made their body look extremely skinny compared to the huge head.

They donned a long sleeve shirt, long shorts, and a sagging tail as the rest of the costume.

In another early photos of Disneyland obtained by Daily Mail, someone dressed as Mickey Mouse in the park could be seen wearing the same big head and skinny tail.

Nowadays, characters working at the theme park have head-to-toe costumes, which makes them look much more realistic.

Today’s Mickey wears red pants, huge black shoes, a black overcoat, and silky yellow bowtie.

So, naturally, the difference in their looks came as a big shock to many Disney fans.

Many horrified people took to X to share their thoughts.

‘Proportions just a tad off,’ one user joked. Another agreed, ‘Looks like a giant bobble head.’

‘I don’t even know what to say,’ someone else typed.

A different appalled user wrote, ‘This would’ve been… an experience for sure lol.’

‘Terrifying,’ another typed.

The wild photos come just as a Disney super fan shared his top tips for visiting the Park on a budget with Daily Mail.

For a two-parent family with two young children, the typical four-day visit to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, now costs a whopping $4,266.

To combat the shock, a top Disney expert is on a mission to help families trying to pay the mounting costs.

Gavin Doyle launched the website Mickey Visit to offer helpful tips to cash-strapped travelers, including sharing discounts at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and beyond.

One of the top tips he shared was to avoid parking at Disney destinations.

He said you shouldn’t drive back and forth to the Disney parks – and it’s something that will save you both time and money.

Standard parking at Disneyland, for example, is priced at $35 daily for a car or motorcycle (it’s more for oversized vehicles). For a four-day trip, you’re looking at paying $140.

At Walt Disney World, parking starts at $30 daily per vehicle.
