BARGAIN hunters are rushing to Asda after spotting toys and gaming gear scanning for as little as 30p – and parents say it’s perfect for stocking up ahead of Christmas.
The deals were spotted in stores across the UK, with shoppers sharing their finds on Facebook to help others cash in.
One thrilled customer posted: “ASDA Gaming clearance cost £15 for all might need to be scanned if still full price.
“I have bar codes if anyone wants them to scan on the app.
“Mario red controllers £2.40 each Nintendo switch
“Green Luigi controller Nintendo switch £1.90…”
Gamers and parents alike couldn’t believe the markdowns.
One fan begged: “Great find. Please can I have the barcodes.”
Another wrote: “I need to start stocking up now for the young ones.”
A third added: “This is actually insane. Well done well deserved find.”
Others quickly tagged their mates to spread the word and make sure no one missed out on the cut-price haul.
Shoppers say the bargains are scanning cheaper at the tills than the shelf labels show, meaning some items are being picked up for pennies.
It comes after mums recently raced to Asda to bag kids’ clothes scanning from just £2 – sparking another wave of bargain fever.
And the excitement doesn’t stop there.
The supermarket giant has been in the spotlight since opening its first-ever stand-alone George store in Leeds earlier this year.
The shop, based at Crown Point Retail Park, launched in May in the old Asda Living unit and has already proved a hit with fans.
Packed with affordable fashion, stylish homeware, must-have toys and adorable baby gear, the store even has a brand-new café to keep shoppers fuelled.
Asda bosses say the new George-only concept could be rolled out across the country if it proves a success.
The George brand has a long history with British shoppers. First launched in 1989 by designer George Davies, it became the UK’s first supermarket clothing label.
By 2004, George had grown into the nation’s biggest clothing retailer, and it’s still going strong today with millions of customers every year.
The latest toy and gaming discounts show Asda is still pulling in bargain hunters decades on.
Savvy shoppers online have even uncovered price “glitches” on the George site, with kids’ outfits dropping to as little as £2.
One mum revealed she’d saved over £50 on her son’s summer holiday clothes, while another said she picked up a five-pack of shorts for £2 – calling them “perfect for little ones on summer holiday”.
Parents say they’re already thinking ahead to Christmas and birthdays, with many using the sales to stock up on presents early.
And with Xbox accessories, Nintendo controllers and Pokémon gear all scanning at rock-bottom prices, it’s no wonder shoppers are filling their baskets fast.
How to save at Asda
Shop the budget range
Savvy shopper Eilish Stout-Cairns recommends that shoppers grab items from Asda’s Just Essentials range.
She said: “Asda’s budget range is easy to spot as it’s bright yellow! Keep your eyes peeled for yellow and you’ll find their Just Essentials range.
“It’s great value and I’ve found it has a much wider selection of budget items compared to other supermarkets.
Sign up to Asda Rewards
The savvy-saver also presses on the importance of signing up to Asda’s reward scheme.
She said: “Asda Rewards is free to join and if you shop at Asda you should absolutely sign up.
“As an Asda Rewards member, you’ll get exclusive discounts and offers, and you’ll also be able to earn 10% cashback on Star Products.
“This will go straight into your cashpot, and once you’ve earned at least £1, you can transfer the money in your cashpot into ASDA vouchers.
We’ve previously rounded up the best supermarket loyalty schemes – including the ones that will save you the most money.
Look out for booze deals
Eilish always suggests that shoppers looking to buy booze look out for bargain deals.
She said: “Asda often has an alcohol offer on: buy six bottles and save 25%.
“The offer includes selected bottles with red, white and rose options, as well as prosecco. There are usually lots of popular bottles included, for example, Oyster Bay Hawkes Bay Merlot, Oyster Bay Hawkes Bay Merlot and Freixenet Prosecco D.O.C.
“Obviously, the more expensive the bottles you choose, the more you save.”
Join Facebook groups
The savvy saver also recommends that fans of Asda join Facebook groups to keep in the know about the latest bargains in-store.
Eilish said: “I recommend joining the Latest Deals Facebook Group to find out about the latest deals and new launches in store.
“Every day, more than 250,000 deal hunters share their latest bargain finds and new releases.
“For example, recently a member shared a picture of Asda’s new Barbie range spotted in store.
“Another member shared the bargain outdoor plants she picked up, including roses for 47p, blackcurrant bushes for 14p and topiary trees for 14p.”
