Gardener’s World viewers were moved to tears following Friday’s episode after a star revealed he’d been diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Steve gave the cameras a tour of his stunning cottage-type garden and revealed his dream of restoring a windmill on the property.
But during his interview for the BBC favourite alongside his wife Pippa, Steve shared his cancer diagnosis, adding he’s unsure how long he has left to live.
He added that he hopes his wife and son will carry on with his endeavour to restore the windmill.
Steve said: ‘I don’t know how long I might live, it could be two months, two years possibly.
‘I didn’t feel down, as a result of it. I just saw it as another challenge. I thought, I’m going to have to sort something out.

‘Actually I had a big creative burst as a result of this. And I’m getting there, Pippa and our son will be able to manage this whole thing.
‘I would like to be remembered for the restoration about the mill. But I feel more strongly about the garden.’

The star recalled how a herd of cows once caused chaos in his garden while speaking in a recent interview.
Monty, who films the series from his own garden, Longmeadow, in Ivington, Herefordshire, explained that he sees all kinds of wildlife outside his window.
He told The Sun: ‘Sometimes we have wildlife there that we don’t want. One time some cattle got in.
‘I got in the bath, looked out of the window and there was this big white face looking at me.
‘So I got a towel and rushed outside to chase them. I put on some wellies and then the towel fell and I was running around Long Meadow stark b*****k naked.’
Monty added how he eventually managed to get the herd out and keep them out to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
Earlier this year, Monty Don opened up about his future on the beloved show, after being forced to cancel six gigs during his An Audience With Monty Don tour after he had to stay in hospital for several days.
Speaking to The Radio Times, he said: ‘I never make plans beyond two years, but I’ve agreed to do another two.’
‘If the programme is made well, I’ll continue.’
The news comes after Monty was forced to cancel several tour dates when he was rushed to A&E.
‘I had a little spate of illness in the middle of the tour. I was in hospital last week, so I’ve been taking it easy.’
