Shoppers will be left seeing spots as one of the Princess of Wales’s favourite patterns is about to take over the high street.
Kate is a huge fan of polka dots on midi-length dresses, and has worn the chic design on a number of occasions – notably during appearances at the Royal Ascot.
Elsewhere, the fun print has made its way into looks from her go-to designer Alessandra Rich to the racecourse for two years in a row in 2022 and 2023.
She has also been spotted wearing a brown polka-dot number by celebrity-approved brand Rixo, pairee with matching brown suede shoes, when she and the Prince of Wales dropped their three children off at Lambrook School for the first time.
Kate isnt the only royal leaning into one of this summer’s biggest fashion trends either, Queen Camilla stepped out in the chic pattern while officially opening Ratho Library in Newbridge.
Now, shoppers can take a page out of the Princess’s style books as M&S has released its own take the trend, releasing a polka dot skirt.
The retailer’s new season drop includes a white tiered skirt with black polka dots of varying sizes in a midaxi length, which sits between a midi and a maxi skirt.
It comes after M&S has released several popular polka dot styles this year, including a black strapless chiffon dress with white polka dots and a white top with tiny black spots adorned with a large flower on the front.
The new ruffle skirt, which retails at £46, features an elasticated waistband with adjustable toggles and all-important the side pockets.

It is already making the rounds on TikTok, with fashion lovers declaring that they are ‘loving the polka dot trend’.
Irene, a TikTok content creator, shared a video of how she styled the tiered skirt with a black one-shoulder top and black kitten heels, with a white handbag. She wrote in her caption: ‘Back to the 80s with the polka dot ra-ra skirt.’
In a previous video, Irene showed how swishy the skirt was even while it was still on the hanger. In text over the clip, she wrote: ‘M&S you never fail.’
Another fashion influencer, Molly Paige, also shared a clip of herself trying on the new skirt in the dressing room and said that she is ‘loving the polka dot trend’.
M&S said the skirt is ‘effortless to style and easy to wear, simply add a slouchy tee, cropped knit, sandals or trainers, and you’ve got a winning fit’.
Polka dots were declared the ‘print of the summer’ by fashion magazines earlier this year.

British Vogue said the spots were ‘making a comeback’ thanks to designers like Fendi, Moschino and Isabel Marant showcasing them on their spring/summer runways, while Marie Claire said it is the ‘It print’ of the season.
The classic spots have enduring appeal, despite cycling in and out of trends over the years – even the late Princess Diana was a fan.
Diana loved wearing colourful versions of the print and some of her most famous polka dot outfits included a white long-sleeve dress covered in large, red polka dots and a sky-blue structured dress with an oversized white collar and white polka dots.
Meanwhile, her daughter-in-law’s take on the beloved print is more sophisticated, involving sleeker silhouettes and flowy materials.
And if further proof were needed that the design is a firm favourite of the royal, Ascot isn’t the only event that sends Kate dotty – she has also been seen wearing spots at Wimbledon, where she has opted for slightly shorter and sportier dresses and skirts with pleats.
