Ten men arrested in Bradford over child grooming gang allegations from 1990s

TEN men have been arrested as part of a historical investigation into child-grooming gangs. 

The suspects, aged between 49 and 71, were held after six alleged victims claimed they were sexually abused as children during the 1990s.

The offences were said to have taken place between 1994 and 1997 and involved girls aged between 13 and 15.

They were quizzed and have since been released on bail pending further inquiries. 

Det Chief Insp Vicky Greenbank said: “Safeguarding and protecting children remains the top priority for West Yorkshire Police.

“This demonstrates the force’s ongoing commitment to the investigation of current and non-recent sexual offences against children.” 

She urged anyone who had been a victim of sexual abuse, recently or not, to contact police. 

The arrests come amid growing pressure on South Yorkshire Police after 30 Rotherham grooming gang survivors alleged they were also sexually assaulted by police

The force has launched an investigation, with three former officers arrested — but campaigners want an independent body to take over. 

A report by Prof Alexis Jay found 1,400 white girls in the town were abused by men of Pakistani heritage between 1997 and 2013.
