A man in his 20s has died and two men have been arrested after a car ploughed into a pub in the early hours of this morning.
Police and medic crews rushed to the Albert Bow pub in Tower Hamlets, east London, at around 1.25am today after a car smashed into the building when it came off the nearby carriageway.
The driver of the car and another passenger, both of whom are in their 20s, did not suffer life threatening or life-changing injuries.
They were both taken to hospital and have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after another passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: ‘At around 1.25am on Sunday, 20 July, police and London Ambulance Service attended to a report of a road traffic collision in Bow.
‘A car left the carriageway and collided with a building at the junction of Roman Road and St Stephen’s Road.
‘One of the passengers in the car was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
‘The driver of the car and another passenger – two men in their twenties – suffered injuries which have been confirmed as neither life-threatening nor life-changing.

‘They have both been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
‘A crime scene remains in the area whilst specialist officers complete their enquires, which are ongoing.
‘Please call police on 101 with the reference 615/20Jul if you were a witness or have any footage including dashcam.’
A London Ambulance spokesperson added: ‘We were called at 1:35am today (20 July) to reports of a road traffic collision on St Stephen’s Road, Bow.
‘We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer, members of our hazardous area response team (HART) and London’s Air Ambulance.
‘Our crews treated three people.
‘Sadly, one person was declared dead at the scene. We took the other two patients to hospital.’
