Harry Potter fans spot MAJOR difference between upcoming show and original movies as first look is unveiled

Harry Potter fans have been left divided over a major difference between the upcoming show and the original movies after the first look was unveiled.

Ever since it was revealed that J.K. Rowling‘s magical book series was being turned into a new HBO series, fans have been patiently waiting for more details to emerge.

Now, to many fans’ delight, the first glimpse into the highly anticipated show has hit the web in honor of filming officially kicking off.

A snap from the set was shared on Monday, which showed actor Dominic McLaughlin, who is set to play the titular character, decked out in his costume while holding up a clapper board.

The youngster donned a black robe along with a maroon sweater over a button down white shirt and a maroon and yellow striped tie.

It was a look that was very familiar to Harry Potter fans as Daniel Radcliffe often wore something similar as he stomped the halls of Hogwarts in the original film series decades ago.

Dominic, 11, paired the look with Harry Potter’s round glasses, of course, and seeing him dressed in his Gryffindor ensemble with the iconic specs certainly got fans emotional.

Many took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their excitement after the image was shared online.

But some were quick to notice something about the new version of the beloved wizard that differed from the films: the placement of his scar.

Instead of it being right above his eyebrow, the infamous lightning bolt-shaped mark was a lot more too the side.

The shape was also less pronounced, and the line itself was much lighter.

People discussed the changes in droves, with some praising the new scar and others slamming it.

‘I like the unkempt fluffy hair look with the scar on the side. A good take on the books and variation from the movie,’ one user wrote.

‘Is it just me but I can’t see the scar? Surely its not on the side, it doesn’t even look like one,’ another shocked fan added.

‘The scar should be in the center of his forehead, like in the books,’ complained a different user.

‘I’m not hating this but I’m not loving it. Hair is perfect, scar is meh,’ read a fifth tweet.

A sixth said, ‘Thought the scar would be bigger. The scar being extremely recognizable is a plot point in almost every book.’

‘Why is his scar so far to the left?’ someone else asked.

The TV adaptation of J.K.’s popular book series was first confirmed in April by the show’s producers. The original author will serve as executive producer.

Each of the original books will be adapted into one season.

In addition to Dominic, Arabella Stanton will play Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout will portray Ron Weasley.

Janet McTeer, known for her powerhouse performances on stage and screen, will step into the sharp heels of Professor McGonagall, while rising star Paapa Essiedu takes on the darker, more complicated role of Severus Snape – a part made famous by the late Alan Rickman.

Actor and comedian Nick Frost will play legendary Hogwarts groundskeeper Hagrid in the adaption and Lox Pratt is set to portray bully Draco Malfoy.

Filming has started in the UK, at Warner Bros studios in Leavesden, with the highly-anticipated series set to land on HBO in 2027.

The HBO TV show is said to be costing $100 million per episode – and the three child actors taking the lead roles have been tipped to land themselves even bigger fortunes than the original stars.

Back in March when the cast was first announced, many fans were outraged over the news that Paapa will play Snape.

Many were left ‘disappointed’ due to his lack of resemblance to the beloved character, who is described as having ‘a large hooked nose, and yellow, uneven teeth’ in J.K.’s iconic novels.
