One Direction star Zayn Malik’s brother-in-law jailed for four years for county lines drug dealing

Zayn Malik‘s brother-in-law has been jailed for drug dealing following a police investigation that found he was part of a notorious county lines network.

Martin Tiser, 23, who married Zayn’s youngest sister Safaa in September 2019, was arrested after officers raided his home in Bradford and discovered £17,000 worth of crack cocaine in a garden shed which was being guarded by a large ‘bull breed’ dog.

When Tiser was searched, he was also found to be in possession of 29 wraps of crack cocaine, 13 wraps of heroin and £1,000 in cash. Police also found kitchen scales and grip sealed bags at the property.

Tiser and Safaa married just days after she turned 17 in a traditional Islamic ceremony which took place at Zayn’s family home in Bradford, which he purchased for his parents after becoming famous.

It was attended by both sets of parents and other relatives with Zayn’s proud mum Trisha posting pictures of the occasion alongside the caption: ‘My baby girls big day.’ The ex-One Direction star – who lives in the US was not present but former girlfriend Gigi Hadid showed her support by liking the post.

Tiser, who was aged 18 at the time, took to his Instagram account to thank their supporters in the wake of some people telling them they were too young to wed. He wrote: ‘Thanks to all of you who support us. We so appreciate that.’

Four months later, Safaa gave birth to a baby girl named Zaneyah.

Soon after the marriage, Zayn splashed out on a £245,000 home for his youngest sibling located on the same road as where his parents live but that was not where Tiser was arrested during the police raid in May.

Tiser, who is of Slovakian descent, was sentenced to four years imprisonment last week at Bradford Crown Court which heard that he was detained as part of Operation Keyside, a major investigation into county lines drug dealing in the Bradford area.

He was found to be involved in the ‘Kev line,’ which officers established was being used for the supply of Class A drugs.

The court heard that cell data obtained from February 2025 showed a number of calls and bulk texts from that number advertising drugs.

One read: ‘Kev on power…pure dynamite from 8-8. Best deals.’

The investigation found that the drug line was active close to Tiser’s address while CCTV footage showed him buying a top up voucher for the mobile phone used to run it from a local shop.

Prosecutor Alisha Kaye told the court that the phone used for the ‘Kev line’ was found on Tiser when officers raided his home.

She revealed that he had previous convictions for driving while over the prescribed drug limit and possession of cannabis.

Mitigating, Safter Salam, said: ‘He came here unable to speak a word of English. He struggled to assimilate himself and challenges that this defendant faced were not just linguistic.

‘He grew up in a deprived area, being isolated socially and emotionally. He was highly vulnerable to exploitation.’

She added: ‘He was preyed upon and manipulated by other, more sophisticated, individuals.

‘This offending took place when he was unsupported and desperate. It is not accepted he had a leading role or significant role.’

Judge Recorder Hawkins told Tiser: ‘You’re only 23 and you have a conviction in relation to drugs, but it was simply possession of cannabis, but it was plain you were taking drugs, and it may be because of that you got involved in these offences.’

Tiser will have to serve up to half of his sentence before being considered for release on license.

Meanhile Zayn’s other brother-in-law has also found himself embroiled in controversy in recent years.

Junaid Khan, who is married to the singer’s sister Walihya was convicted in 2017 to five years imprisonment for a carjacking. Videos published by MailOnline showed him laughing and dancing with friends while serving his sentence at Doncaster’s Lindholme Prison.

Zayn was so opposed to the marriage that he refused to attend as did his father Yaser because of their concerns over Khan’s criminal past and his precarious financial position.

While Zayn remained in the US, Yaser refused to leave the family home in Bradford and walk a mere 70 yards to the ceremony, which took place in the home of his youngest daughter Saffa, who lives only six doors away.

Khan worked as double-glazing salesman before being convicted in 2017 to five years imprisonment for a carjacking.

He and accomplice Adam Takolia pursued a Seat Leon Cupra before confronting a ‘vulnerable’ elderly woman in Skipton.

The court heard at the time that it was a ‘steal to order’ robbery and the woman was victim to a carjacking on her driveway, after the defendants followed her home.

The pair were understood to be wearing balaclavas at the time and threatened her with a weapon, thought to be a screwdriver, before driving off with the car.

Khan was released from prison in May 2020.
